KANSAS CITY, Mo. A new poll released after the Aug. 8 primary shows incumbent U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill (D Missouri) in a tie with Republican Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley.
The poll, conducted Aug. 8-9 by Missouri Scout, shows the race tied, which is in line with a series of polls conducted in the race since this spring.
Both candidates received 47 percent of the vote, with six percent of those polled saying they were undecided.
The poll also asked respondents their thoughts on amending the state constitution to permit the use of medical marijuana, with 54 percent of respondents approving.
Roughly 60 percent of respondents also said the state should increase its minimum wage to $8.60 per hour, with a stair-step increase of $0.85 per year to $12 per hour by 2023.
The poll was conducted by TJP Strategies, a Democratic consulting firm, on behalf of Missouri Scout, with 1,785 likely 2018 general election votes and a sampling error margin of plus or minus 2.3 percentage points.
A lot of money will be spent to defeat the evil witch Claire....
Let’s hope they get the job done.
From what I’ve heard this guy isn’t trying too hard. Does he really want it?
They need to bring Mr. Obama and Hillary to go up and down all around Missouri. This should be their guarantee fix. Or maybe Ocasio Cruz and Bernie Saunders. Bring in Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. Bring in Bill Clinton. Make sure that this state goes Democratic.
Historically incumbent senators under 50% in the polls, 30 days out, won reelection 65% of the time. Ninety days out isn't worth breaking a sweat over.
Don't underestimate McCaskill. She's been here before. She knows how to fight. Hawley is new to elective politics. He's more likely to commit a gaff than she is.
A lot will be sent to save her seat, too.
It's a moot point. He's the nominee. Frankly it's his race to lose. As long as he doesn't cram his foot in his mouth he'll win.
Attorney General Josh Hawley, is not owned by lobbyists as Clair is....
How would you describe “really wanting it”?
Take the issues directly to the people just like Trump does! Door to door or whatever it takes, e.g., picnics in the park, rallies, etc.
He had that reputation during the primary, and won it going away against token opponents. A lot of token opponents but token nevertheless. That's not going to work in the general. He needs to really fight McCaskill for this one, and not make a mistake.
I assume the comparison would be the Romney campaign vs the Trump campaign.
Like with Todd Akin?
Yeah, I’m waiting for him to say:
“I don’t believe in any kind of abortion, any time or any place for any reason, especially if someone is 12 years old and raped by a Muslim.”
You forgot the newest star and savior of the democrat party, the transvestite Governor candidate from Vermont. She’s sure to draw lots of votes.
Actually I thought Romney was a much better candidate than McCain. McCain refused to campaign on weekends. He was a 9-5 candidate.
Hopefully he’s not diddling his hairdresser or something.
Ugh.
Amen Brother.
