"The dirty war on the free press must end."
That's the idea behind an unusual editorial-writing initiative that has enlisted scores of newspapers across America.
The Boston Globe has been contacting newspaper editorial boards and proposing a "coordinated response" to President Trump's escalating "enemy of the people" rhetoric.
"We propose to publish an editorial on August 16 on the dangers of the administration's assault on the press and ask others to commit to publishing their own editorials on the same date," The Globe said in its pitch to fellow papers.
The effort began just a few days ago.
As of Saturday, "we have more than 100 publications signed up, and I expect that number to grow in the coming days," Marjorie Pritchard, the Globe's deputy editorial page editor, told CNN.

Also announced at the same time, William Kristol will run an article chastising Tump, the Wall Street Journal will run an anti-tariff editorial, Huffpo will run a pro-illegal immigrant story and Cosmopolitan will publish a special issue on "sex."
In other words, things will be exactly the same as they have been

You are exactly right. This is a different version of when Newt complained about being seated at the back of Air Force 1 during one trip with the Clintons. He was heavily criticized as a whiner.
The whiners are the press have maliciously destroyed many people and institutions with their words. They have a long history to criticize anyone opposed to them or their immoral, anti-Constitutional, anti-traditional American value beliefs... but for anyone who criticizes them, especially the President, is a “threat” to the freedom of the press.
Grow up “press” and stop your whining like big babies. This is America and everyone including the President is free to speak. You guys have been enjoying a lopsided control of the media ... until now. And it is easier for people to challenge your past monopoly and not take you too seriously anymore. Too bad you didn’t scrutinize BHO and HRC like you do Trump. You’d have a better reputation.
