....concepts that still help me make sense of the world, like the "racial nadir" the downturn in American race relations, starting after Reconstruction, that saw the rise of lynchings and the Ku Klux Klan. In doing so, Lies My Teacher Told Me overturned one assumption embedded in the history classes I'd been sitting through all my life: that the United States is constantly ascending from greatness to greatness.
"I started out the new edition with the famous two photographs of the inaugural crowds of this guy named President Obama, his first inauguration, and this guy named President Trump, his first and maybe only inauguration. And you just look at those two photos and they're completely different. There's all kinds of grass and gaps that you see in the Trump photo. ... What that does, I hope, is signal to every reader of the book: Yes, there are such things as facts here. You can see with your own eyes."

I traded posts with Evan a number of years ago and can’t possibly recall is Freeper handle.
I got the feeling that he became bored with the lack of focus on FR.
Evan occasionally replies to me on email but I would love to read his posting history to walk along the road that led him to his uncommon insight.

That gives me an idea.

Would be cool.
Those old Freeper posts, by Evan, are buried in their fleeting history never to be seen again but for some clever Freeper search Savant.
I found this very interesting.

This is a seven minute snippet of the closing crescendo(enhanced with music even) taken from this much longer 52 minute talk, if you have time to watch the entire thing you won’t regret it.

I’m a big fan of Peterson.
Those 7 minutes are awesome.
FWIW, I used to teach a diverse group of adults some very complicated stuff.
Stuff that was or could be very profitable for them.
There was always a tendency among my students for me to just cut to the chase. They wanted the solution, the answer, without having to consider the process required.
This is the world in which we live today.
A desire for solutions without context.
Just Google it.
Why bother with context when all their answers are just one or two clicks away?
A Brave New world indeed.
Yes if there is anything I've learned about the process is that taking shortcuts rarely gets you to your destination faster, if at all. Without reading the signs and making corse corrections along the way you can easily lose sight of your objective.

I don’t need to learn or understand long form math, multiplication or fractions.

President of the United States of America Donald John Trump (I love saying that) was administered the oath at noon and immediately gave about a 22 minute speech.
OK.
Zoom in on the clock tower in the lower right.

Well lookie there, the "inauguration" photo was actually taken at 1:15 pm, about 45 minutes after it was all over.
Apparently the esteemed professor emeritus of sociology at the University of Vermont James Loewen is peddling a load of proglib crap.
