An Horizon Air ground service agent took the controls of a Bombardier Q400 turboprop airplane in a maintenance area at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport at about 8 p.m. local time Friday and took off, embarking on flight over Seattle before crashing about an one hour later on Ketron Island in Puget Sound, Horizon sister carrier Alaska Airline said online.

American kamikaze!
I take it they haven’t released this guy’s name yet?
As an employee he would have access to the airplane. This not a TSA or security issue. Think of a maintenance worker for a trucking company stealing a truck.
Early 2000s, I heard on DW’s shortwave broadcast about a guy that stole a general aviation craft, and flew around the Frankfurt airport, rendering it useless, until he ran low on fuel, and “...landed safely, and was taken into custody without incident. He is believed to have emotional issues.”
Do you think anyone is going to focus attention to this part of the conversation:
Air traffic control: You know, I think they would give you a job doing anything if you could pull this off.
Rich: Yeah right! Nah, I’m a white guy
Is this the inevitable result of the constant white bashing by leftists? Are white people becoming despondent because of horrible leftist propaganda and are starting to feel hopeless?
I think so.

I’m waiting for that, too. Since he was employee, surely they know it.
Recent convert? Maybe his imam told him before he could take a new name he needed practice...
I wonder if he was recently diagnosed with something terminal. Seems like a bucket list thing to do. Always wanted to fly that plane, not going to die in jail and dying anyway so might as well have some fun on the way out. Better have a few drinks to get up the nerve.
Makes you wonder why they're dragging their heels.
Oh wait...just realized. The FBI is running the investigation. Dragging their heels is what they do.
But he had just enough skill to get to the scene of the crash.
Well, we have to understand that they may have something that needs to be covered up.
If anyone would, Mark Steyn might if it's still a news item in the coming week.
The guy sounded despondent but hiding it well in the bit I heard. He said there were people out there who cared about him and that he was about to let them down, but he sounded like he was determined to bring about the end he had planned on.
It was a reckless and ultimately selfish thing to do. For his sake, I wish he'd just said "no, not today" to whatever demon was gnawing at him.
If he could do those loops and other maneuvers in that plane...he could’ve landed it! Believe he wanted to be a pilot...may have had his license, but was prevented from doing so because of his color and the companies policy of female or people of color only only...or he was just F’d up!
