Reverend: Boys Hung Black Doll With Noose In Philly Playground To ‘Creep People Out’

A reverend says a black doll found hanging from a makeshift noose in a Philadelphia playground was apparently staged by a group of kids who wanted to “creep people out.”

Police say they received a 911 call around noon after a city worker found a black doll hanging from a telephone wire with a makeshift noose around its neck at the Weccacoe Playground at 4th and Queen Streets.

I’m saying that when I was their age I was definitely motivated to do that sort of thing.

Nah, I think he probably tied a better noose than idiot schoolchildren trying to fake a hate crime.

I’m not so sure. It would make no sense for the judge to impose different sentances for perps of different races doing exactly the same crime. Not that hanging a doll is a crime . . . if it were a white doll, it wouldn’t even get reported, much less a 9-1-1 call.

I learned it as "13 times around".

As a bonus, we learned that that is why the number 13 is "unlucky". I can still remember seeing and thinking hpow large my friends eyes were during that explanation. I suspect now that had I been able to see my own eyes, they would have looked the same.

Regardless, it only took one demonstration and to this day I have not forgotten how to tie that knot.

Not that, specifically. But I can see myself doing that sort of thing with a bunch of friends on a playground. You bet. I wouldn’t have been the one that brought it up, and it would depend on the school.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with ending a sentence with a preposition.

I’m in the grumpy old man category and probably should disconnect the www and anything computer related, but, I am also addicted.

I miss the time before 24-7 news with it’s endless recycling of nothing stories, and social media and hypersensitivity. A time when if a white girl was missing it wasn’t on TV 24-7. A time when if someone tied a noose it wasn’t an international racial incident, a time when reporting a 20 year old butt grab incident was thought to be little too late in reporting, a time when democrats were not suffering from mental illnesses.

That is a neighborhood with a 6-lane boulevard, Washington Avenue, running across it. Above the boulevard, long-gentrified row houses and town houses selling from $300K to $million plus. Below the boulevard, long-established gubmit housing projects.

There is nothing wrong with ending a sentence with a preposition particularly when you have to change the sentence into a convoluted mess to get rid of it.

Not that this sentence is using the word as a standard preposition in any case.

I guess I'm just Old Fashioned. In my Day anyone who came across something like that would either (a), shake their head and keep walking or (b), take it sown and discard it in the nearest Trash Receptacle.

I thought 911 was only supposed to be used when a Person is in jeopardy, due to an Accident, a Health Emergency or if they are the Victim of a Crime.
