From Wrestlemania to the mayor’s house.

Glenn Jacobs, better known by his WWE name “Kane,” was elected the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee Thursday, beating Democratic contender Linda Haney.

The 51-year-old former wrestler, who was listed at 7’0” and 323 pounds at his peak as the Big Red Machine, considers himself a “Reagan Republican.” He listed seven goals on his campaign website: a commitment to keeping taxes low, a renewed focus on quality of education, continuing to attract new jobs to the area, improvement of roads and infrastructure, “full and absolute transparency,” safer communities and “a fresh outlook on limited government.”

Jacobs won his primary by just 23 votes

Funny how they mention he won his primary by just 23 votes but fail to say how much he won the election.

It’ll shock some folks, but he does have a decent business background (as does his wife). First and foremost....he’s a capitalist and successful at what he does (retired now from wrestling). He’s young enough, that I think in four years...he’ll run for Senator (provided he does a good job as mayor).

It seemed assured he would, the last rat to run (2010) only got 8%, this time the rat got a third. 7 feet tall? Damn.

The current County Mayor won the primary for Duncan’s seat, Burchett.

Former State Agriculture Commish John Rose won the primary for Black’s seat. Judd Matheny in third.

Mark Green was unopposed for Blackburn’s seat, I didn’t know that. That’s good.

Kustoff had a beat runner up from the 2016 primary by 14 points.

Impressive dude. But, what’s more important, he does seem to have a business head on his shoulders.

Contested GOP primary in your district.

Steve Cohen annihilates a couple Black sounding names.

Matheny had the credibility in the 6th, the other two bozos had the money and no credibility. I backed Matlock in the 2nd over Burchett. Green should be a good Congressman (frankly, he needs to start raising money now to run Lamar! out of his Senate seat in 2 years).

Kustoff’s opponent was a rich gnat who just has a pathological desire to run for any office every cycle. Sadly, Shelby County was a total fiasco. The Dem State Senate leader, Lee Harris, (just 5 members) won the GOP-held Mayorship there and the Dems apparently took back other offices in a RED (not Blue) wave. That will send the remaining responsible citizens out of the non-Memphis portion of Shelby County to Hernando County, Mississippi, en masse.

Kane described himself as a Reagan Republican, as opposed to
a Trump Republican. Close enough. Mr. Trump can be hard to take sometimes. At least he didn’t say
a Bush Republican.
All his business clothes are probably tailor made.
No sending the wife to Target for this guy.

You could just flip a coin in the 5th for the sacrificial lamb. The one I voted for without much thought won the worthless nomination.

An open State Senate race in my VRA district for the seat of outgoing center-right(!) Black Dem Thelma Harper (who got a whopping 79% Conservative from the ACU in 2017). Unfortunately, the seat will go hard left as State Rep. Brenda Gilmore won it (who has a 16% lifetime rating from the ACU). Harper opposed Gilmore’s candidacy and endorsed Rev. Howard Jones, who may have been more to the right. I didn’t vote in the Dem primary, though would’ve voted for Jones if I did. Gilmore will become the most left-wing member of the Senate, with Raumesh Akbari (state rep lady succeeding Lee Harris) becoming #2 (with 23% lifetime ACU rating).

I’d appreciate a choice meaningless or not, almost had one in my district, 4 Republicans ran but 3 dropped out. I would have carefully weighed the choices as if it mattered.

16% conservative would be swell, for a federal rat.

” Thelma Harper”

That’s really her name? LOL. I’m sure you told me about her before but I don’t remember. Why is she a rat? Just to get elected?

I’m surprised Shelby County had a GOP Mayor. Now I’m reading the rats had in the past struggled to win on the county level there?

I forgot that’s the same name as Mama from “Mama’s Family.”

She’s been in politics for some time. I called her “The Mad Hatter” as she never goes anywhere without her Sunday Church hats (as many churchgoing Black women do). Obviously her unusually high Conservative voting % would make her a Republican elsewhere, but if any of the centrist Black TN Dems tried to run as a Republican, they’d lose badly. It also shows, once again, that it’s all about party and not ideology when it comes to Black voters in some areas.

The absurdity was demonstrated recently when 2 Senators from opposite parties were caught on audio remarking about party affiliation. The inference being that the White Republican might prefer serving as a Democrat, but could never get elected as one because he’s in a GOP district, and the Black Democrat might prefer serving as a Republican because of his centrist record, but again couldn’t get elected as one because the Black district will only vote Dem, regardless of ideology.

Ah the hats, I remember that part.

“The absurdity was demonstrated recently when 2 Senators from opposite parties were caught on audio remarking about party affiliations?.”

What are their names? Sounds like we need to get rid of that RINO.
