More than 100 ex-cons granted voting rights by Gov. Andrew Cuomo a couple of months ago have had them revoked after violating parole or committing new crimes, it was disclosed Tuesday.

Social justice advocates applauded the governor when he signed an executive order in May authorizing conditional pardons for 24,086 parolees so they could vote before completing their sentences.

But Cuomo’s office said the pardons are working as intended.

Yep, it's working exactly as intended, no question about that ... Lil'Andy and his leftie ilk still gets over 23,900 additional votes from convicted criminals

Having Cuomo for governor is like having some sort of heinous handicap, preventing one from leading a normal productive life. Ditto DumblASSio.

Having worked as an officer in NY State’s prison system for 25 years, I predicted on another thread a while back, that most of them would lose the privilege because they can’t stay out of trouble.

“Social justice advocates” is a ridiculous way to describe those who seek to reenfranchise these convicted felons. I know that this mislabeling is all to common, today. But in the name of reason, allow me to challenge this absurd appellation!

Not "Social" & Not "Just"

I think having voting rights restored should be done on a case by case basis. If they have turned their lives around, lived clean, have a job that they actually turn up to for a period of time, they should get a second chance.

Cuomo, come on! Why not give them nine or ten more chances?

Or if you get a 20 year sentence and you get out early on probation/good behavior after 10 years...

You still have to wait 10 years before you get your voting rights back.

Voting rights only come back after the entire term of the original sentence have passed, period.

I truly wonder how many criminals (other than politicians themselves) actually bother to vote, anyway.

Looks like Cuomo needs to sign up all the ‘residents’ of NY’s cemeteries to make up the difference.

Perhaps he will add the ‘undocumented immigrants’ residing in holding facilities in Texas - after all, they all intended to go to NY and vote Democrat, right?

Ah shucks - do you think that’s a good reason to take their new rights away from them? May to July and they found it difficult to stay out of trouble? Not that you and others couldn’t see it coming.

It looks like you New Yorkers have your work cut out for you. You have my sympathy!
