>>You can easily quit smoking cold turkey and lose weight at the same time. You just have to want to. Truth.<<

My 20 years of personal experience and dead friend say otherwise.

Truth.

The idea is to make living in Public Housing as undesirable as possible, so as to motivate them to leave.

Notice the timing, just before midterms, why? So Demonrats can blame it on Republicans. All these adicts in withdrawal will be raging mad. Won’t care about the truth. Won’t be able to concentrate.

The objective is to anger public housing residents into voting AGAINST the Trump administration during the mid-terms. That’s all this really is.

Riiiiight. I am suuuuure all our cities have the necessary manpower to bust everyone in public housing lighting a joint, crackpipe, ciggy, in their own apartments.

Make tobacco illegal or don’t. This incremental nonsense is just cowardly and pathetic.

“health care costs”

Yes, everyone who lived in public housing before today will get a smoking related illness, if they don’t have one already, because someone smoked there.

In fact, since it wasn’t until the 90s that it was banned in the workplace, anyone who had a job indoors before 1990 is going to die of a smoking related illness.

Would you really tell a Korean war vet who has smoked all his life that he has to go at least 25 feet from his building to have a cigarette?

Yeah, in more ways than one

When i smoked it didnt take any effort to stay lean until 40 hit...at which point after 27 yrs of heavy smoking i couldn’t run a mile without gasping for air and got heavy quick

Moved to Copenhagen snuff then discovered swedish snus which keeps my nicotine addiction manageable..but yeah, i would probably have lost 80% or more of my bodyweight by now if I had kept the 2 to 3 pack a day habit

Ironically the smell of cigs disgusts me now but every few months i have one or two, savor it for a moment and then curse myself for days feeling like crap

It’s a BS attempt when they don’t have real solutions. Make people work fr government benefits unless they can’t mentally or physically.

“Why? It is not illegal to smoke, and therefor, in spite of the government supported nature of the housing, how can the government totally ban something that is not illegal.”

Can’t smoke in government building either. Public housing is considered government buildings. I wonder if this applies to Section 8 housing as well.

I also wonder when the foodstuffs allowable on EBT will be pared down to essential, healthy choices only.

Less than 25 feet from much of the public housing in my area would often just take you to a city/town sidewalk——nothing this federal law can do about smoking there .

No the idea is to inflict the new Puritanism on those who don’t have the means to fling them the bird. An additional security deposit would be defensible. Considering how much of the cost of cigarettes are built in taxes it can be argued that smokers contribute quite a bit to state coffers.

As long as the tenants are law abiding and don’t create a nuisance I see no reason to try and force them out simply because the property owner accepts a subsidy from the government. A more realistic reflection of local rents certainly would be a good idea. Requiring sweat equity makes sense. But a blanket no-smoking ban? Nope.

Slums

You should see the new section 8 housing they’re building in Montgomery. They look nicer than some of the more expensive apartments around town.

Look up “The Plaza at Centennial Hill” in Montgomery AL.

That’s the newest one they’re currently working on.
