Body camera footage released Sunday showed the fatal police shooting of an armed man during a frantic foot pursuit -- the video ordered released by Minnesota officials in the interest of "transparency" after two other high-profile deadly police shootings in the state.
In a Sunday evening press conference, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey called the video of 31-year-old Thurman Blevins' death "traumatic" and said the Blevins family had viewed the video Sunday. Frey said the video was released in the interest of "transparency," FOX9 reported.

The video released Sunday shows the two officers pulling their cruiser up to Blevins, who's seated on a curb near a woman with a child in a stroller. As the officers pull up, one says, "He's got a gun!" Blevins jumps up and runs, as the officers yell "Stop, stop! Put your hands up! I will f------ shoot you!"

There seems to be a new culture of disregard for authority that has cropped up in the last 10-20 years. Not just disobeying police officers but teachers also. Nothing is their fault nothing illegal belongs to them even though it is in their possession. Lawyers have conditioned them to deny deny deny and not cooperate with authorities if they want to get off. Its Just sad!!

This one is a horrible case. If he had just dropped whatever he was holding and stopped running, there would’ve been no reason for the police to assume he had a gun. I wonder how many black lives have been lost because BLM has conditioned blacks to fear following basic procedures that would keep them safe.

I guess he figured he could outrun the police. If it wasn’t for the one officer, he probably would have. The second officer was getting smoked.
They all run because they are unlicensed and in possession of an illegal firearm which generally carries a jail sentence.

Have you ever tried running with a bullet resistant vest on? Besides adding a couple pounds of weight, it’s stiff, prevents you from bending and flexing, and the elastic straps that hold it on are fighting against you on inhalations.
Add another 15 to 20 lbs in gear for your radio,cuffs, weapon, extra ammo, cpr mask, rubber gloves, knife, keys (for cruiser, cuffs, station, lockers, traffic lights, etc.), body cam, and whatever else you are mandated to carry. Give it a try sometime against some one in shorts, t-shirt and tennis shoes.

He wanted to get put of sight, just for a few seconds, before being arrested so he could ditch the gun and not get sent to prison for another unlawful possession if a firearm charge
Actually he does not suck at running....he was on the opposite side of the car as hi a partner who was on same side of car as suspect.
That gave the other officer a head start....add in talking on the radio for a moment several times and you have the distance growing a bit as well.
These two cops did an amazing job....foot chase of an armed suspect, clear commands under stress, and hit their moving target when it mattered.
And now their reward comes ....2nd guessing by the public and racial animus thrown into the mixer.
Ya gotta be crazy or a masochist to be a cop.
Probably too inclined to wedge politics into a discussion, but I blame the unwillingness of the authorities to bring Bill Clinton to justice.
A police officer friend of mine once describes such a chase. He said that he was keeping up for a while and actually managed a short grip on the guys belt but then lost him. The chase was actually one of those TV type chases through backyards, jumping fences, dodging dogs etc.
I said something about the 20 lbs of gear around his waist and the fact that he didn’t want to drop his box of donuts. He didn’t appreciate my weak attempt at humor.
