From the Liberals Spoil Everything department, where everything is a problem, heres Vice writer Harry Cheadle: Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of 'Animal House' by Tossing It in the Trash -- Drunken frat boys don't seem so charming anymore, and the film's gender politics are 'xxxxx'd' beyond repair.
From his 2018 perch, Cheadle tears into the offensive, vulgar, and extremely hilarious college comedy hit for its lack of wokeness:
Its difficult to imagine what it was like when Animal House dropped into theaters on July 28, 1978, exactly 40 years ago. It landed like the opening of a revolution and spread through the country like a virus, eventually grossing over $500 million in today's dollars and becoming part of the DNA of every campus comedy for the next few decades....Animal House will never die. The question is, should it?
After listing the antics of John Belushis character, Cheadle quickly got to the more problematic scenes, while insulting fans.

Ill look those up. Im not sure if my Hulu trial is over, I only got it to watch one documentary (forget what now). We dont have cable, dont watch teevee, but I do like a channel (app) called Film Struck for classic/foreign films. I have an app for film noir, which I love, but it never seems to work.
Good to know.
Thanks for posting.
Yep, my mistake it was otter’s chick.
I see what you did.
I imagine theyll take my husbands complete set of Amos & Andy from one cold, dead hand, while the other is clutching a gun.
Ill take 10,000 marbles please.
Ive been watching the wonderful and funny, and sometimes brilliantly hilarious Lum And Abner movies from 1942 to 1946 over the last few days. They are free on YouTube or archive.org, and are a real hoot. There are hundreds or thousands of great old movies out the in the public domain for your enjoyment.
Ah, Dean Wormer, we hardly knew ye. With apologies to the the good Dean: Fat, drunk and liberal is no way to go through life, son.
LMAO.
“Yep, my mistake it was otters chick.”
See post 54 & 64.
Yes indeed, both movies and books, and whats great for me, is that theyre usually the older ones, and those are my favorites :) I found some Russian site that has older movies, tons of them and adding more every day, online to watch for free. I love silent movies, and so many of those are public domain.
And books! When I discovered the Gutenberg sites, and then others, I thanked God for this aspect of living in the 20/21 centuries.
Thats correct
Not exactly. McHales Navy and Hogans Heroes are on every day in Denver on the rerun channels. And I recently saw an abridged version of Blazing Saddles on free antenna TV.
I never caught that and Ive seen it a dozen times since 1978 I think
Sorry, I have DirectTV, and I'm very unhappy with the amount and kinds of stations I get.
The libs have taken four decades to figure out that they’ve become the punchline.
Yes, without even realizing it, even today, that is what they are.
