DON'T GET NUKED
The Navy and Marine Corps rightly spend much of their time on chemical, biological and radiological training. As bombs and triggering devices become more mobile and terrorists become more sophisticated, it is important to prepare ourselves for disaster while hoping that it will be avoided. Regarding chemical and biological warfare, it is especially difficult to believe that something so small and invisible can be so deadly and dangerous. Just a little toxin in the air . . . and the next thing you know you're doing the "funky chicken" on the ground. Bad attitudes can be like that, too! Invisible and deadly. So can negativity, apathy, lethargy, and passivity. You can't really see those invisible attitude-toxins. But they are deadly poison. Just one little taste . . . and destruction of the soul follows.
Prayer: Heavenly God and Protector of our lives ... Give us a zest for life. Protect us from all the poisons and toxins that threaten our soul and spirit. Help us to suit up with anticipation and excitement for all which life has to offer. Cause us to breathe in the fresh air of purity and righteousness. And, Lord, if there does come a time of destruction and war, protect us from any form of chemical, biological, or nuclear warfare. May common sense and peace prevail in this troubled world and bring us hope. Amen.

Hope in Grief
July 29, 2018
Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight.
Luke 24:31
When I was nineteen, one of my close friends was killed in a car accident. In the following weeks and months, I walked each day in a tunnel of grief. The pain of losing someone so young and wonderful clouded my vision, and at times I even felt unaware of what was going on around me. I felt so blinded by pain and grief that I simply could not see God.
In Luke 24, two disciples, confused and brokenhearted after Jesuss death, didnt realize they were walking with their resurrected Teacher Himself, even as He explained from Scripture why the promised Savior had to die and rise again. Only when He took bread and broke it was it revealed that this was Jesus (vv. 3031). Although the followers of Jesus had faced death in all its horror when Jesus died, through His resurrection from the dead God showed them how to hope again.
Like those disciples, we might feel weighed down with confusion or grief. But we can find hope and comfort in the reality that Jesus is alive and at work in the worldand in us. Although we still face heartache and pain, we can welcome Christ to walk with us in our tunnel of grief. As the Light of the world (John 8:12), He can bring rays of hope to brighten our fog.
Lord God, thank You for being the light in the darkness. Bring hope when Im sad and confused, and help me to see Your glory.
Though we grieve, we have hope in Jesus.

Rain and sunshine several times today. Freshly washed air! Hey, that's how my day is going...sunshine this morning, then a few sprinkles, a tad more sunshine, and now rain.
"Freshly washed air"...I like that.
A Blessed Lord's Day to you and yours.

WOO-HOO, hiya radu!
I did go to mow early this morning and it was about 88 degrees at 9:30 so the sweat was on.
I did see the little guy too and he is still top dog (in his mind) but also the most affectionate.
Just been layin' low ever since.

Ah, good. At least you got to see him though there probably wasn’t much romping in that heat. Ugh! It was too hot too early.
We enjoyed low 80s today and it was most welcome!
It was a bust-butt day at the museum and I can barely move tonight. BUT ..... that big crate of uniforms I’ve been working with was EMPTIED OUT this afternoon! WOOHOO!!!! And I managed to finish moving the cleaned uniforms upstairs around so it’s better organized up there. Two major accomplishments.
And another crate piled with uniforms awaits me next weekend. They wasted no time swapping out the empty one for the full one. LOL!
I’m limp as a wet noodle tonight but it was a great day.

Ooooh, there won’t be any choice but to do little to nothing the rest of the weekend. LOL! I can barely move tonight and tomorrow will be worse.
But it’s so much fun that it doesn’t really feel like work. I never know what the next item will be when I reach into the crate. Could be a dress uniform, it could be utilities, it could be a trench coat that weighs as much as I do. LOL! There was one of those today. How can anyone wear something like that and still do anything?? Holy cow!
It’s an honor to have the opportunity to do this and be involved with the museum. Seeing the faces of veterans who visit as they look around and see uniforms and other items they’re familiar with is what makes it so much fun.
The “herd” are surprisingly quiet this evening considering the moon was full last night. They’re usually wound up for another day or two afterwards. Believe me, there are NO complaints! LOL
