Jewish American comedian Roseanne Barr has apologized for her recent ill-worded Twitter post about Valerie Jarrett, a former adviser to President Barack Obama, and insisted she isnt a bigot.
Barr made the comments in an hour-long interview on Sean Hannitys Fox News show on Thursday, two months after ABC cancelled her sitcom due to that specific tweet and several others deemed to be racist.
It cost me everything, Barr said in the interview, as quoted by The Associated Press. I wish I worded it better.
Hannity repeatedly urged Barr to apologize to Jarrett on air. The comedian eventually did, saying that she was sorry for the poorly worded tweet. She added she would tell Jarrett, Im sorry that you feel harm and hurt, I never meant that. I never meant to hurt anybody.
She repeated her assertion that she did not know Jarrett was black when she likened Jarrett to a cross between the Muslim Brotherhood and a Planet of the Apes actor.

When you somehow feel compelled to insist that you are not a bigot then you are in bad shape.
Roseanne go away you stupid hack, trying to be relevant again by rehashing this nonsense? Just go away
Hannity should have asked her to sing our National Anthem.
Apologizing is a sign of weakness.
Valerie Jarret looked exactly like the planet of the apes monkeychick and is a devote enemy of America.
so FUVJ
...and Rosanne shut up with the apology tour.
I though Sean Hannity disgraced himself in that interview. ...went full on PC.
ValJar is filth and deserves no quarter so why is she getting it?
“Hannity should have asked her to sing our National Anthem.”
Hannity should have let her talk. I didn’t see the hour long part of the interview on Thursday, but I saw the second part on last night’s show. I found her story interesting and wanted to hear more of it, but Hannity kept interrupting her and not letting her finish. I appreciate what Sean has done for conservatives and appreciate that he’s on our side, but I find him almost intolerable to watch. Every topic is the mot important issue in the country right now, and his hyperbole and motor-mouth make him a poor interviewer. I’m sure he has been told this many times, but probably doesn’t see a need to change because he gets such good ratings.
He gets excellent guests. Just wish he would let them talk more.
Regarding Roseanne, I think I have more sympathy for her than many. She clearly has had mental health issues and it’s difficult to discern how much of it is inherent, and how much self-inflicted. However, I have known enough people with serious mental health issues who have suffered so greatly that I’ve learned to be much more sympathetic and compassionate toward them. If you’ve ever had bouts of deep depression, you know how the psychic pain can just as bad, if not worse, than severe physical pain.
Here’s the problem with Roseanne: SHE’S NUTS.
Always has been. Some just like her when she says things they agree with.
When has Roseanne ever, EVER referred to herself as Jewish American? Give me a break. Her tweet about Jarrett was one of her few moments of clarity.
She told Hannity that she sang the National Anthem in that manner because a baseball player told her to. Sure you did, Roseanne. She told Hannity that she now doesn’t believe she was the victim of sexual abuse, only mental abuse. She’s all over the place.
I liked her show but she’s a complete whacko and needs to just fade away.
Valerie Jarrett gives less than a bleep about Roseanne’s apology. Can you imagine the contempt that rankles in Valjar’s acidic bosom for that “jew infidel”, even WITHOUT the insult? We’re not talking about normal folks here; these camel jockeys. Hating is their National Passtime. IMHO.
Valerie Jarrett is a very vile, Evil creature. Nothing bad enough can be said of her.
Roseanne should double down on that bitch.
Bad move Rosie. The left will always go after you b/c you support Trump.
This is like apologizing to a pile of dog crap for stepping on it.
I feel for the gal. if you listen to her she is genuine and just wants to be a good person.... once it turned out that the Roseanne show was a success I think the plan was to fire her the moment she messed up. originally I think that the show was put into place to combat the impression that ABC got rid of Last man standing because the show displayed conservatism in a positive manner and was popular . This was just ABC getting creative control from Roseanna I also think ABC is going to be surprised at how few people tune in for there show the Conner’s.
She didn’t actually want to apologize again, Hannity kept prodding her into an apology that she didn’t want to give.
As she said, she’s apologized a zillion times already, and since she didn’t actually mean anything racist by what she said, she shouldn’t have to apologize at all. She had a political point to make, and she kept trying to make it, and Hannity kept interrupting her trying to get a “moment” out of it. She was more interesting than he was, when he let her.
And then he undercut her point by dredging up her past mental issues, implying that her criticism of VJ was related to her mental illness.
Hannity really doesn’t know when to just shut up and let his guest talk. Its something he has never learned.
I hate pro forma apologies anyway. If you said it, and you meant to say it, and they are going to reject your apology anyway, and you’re going to lose everything anyway, you may as go down with all flags flying.
If she had said something like, “I’m sorry I compared you to a talking monkey, ValJar. A better comparison would have been been to a constipated llama,” or something similar, everyone would have laughed it off and ABC would have looked ridiculous. She does have mental health issues, including severe depression. She once said, “now that I have pills to deal with it, I’ve discovered that it’s the only interesting thing about me.” She’s far from a conservative by any stretch. She supported Trump, who is also not an ideological conservative or liberal. But he defeated Hillary, so since they can’t get the goods on him and impeach him, they take it out on Roseanne. It’s unfortunate they canceled her show, which I was enjoying. I loved the old show, for that matter. But it’s just another casualty of CW II. It will get much, much worse.
“She didnt actually want to apologize again, Hannity kept prodding her into an apology that she didnt want to give.”
I got so pissed at Sanctimonious Sean during that interview that I finally turned off the TV.
So Roseanne didn’t know Obama’s other wife is black. Neither did I, and neither did anyone else I knew. And her life is ruined because oof it? I’ll bet Sean didn’t know, either. As far as many of us knew, VJ is middle eastern and not black.
Sean sickened me as he continued to goad her. She got a bad rap, and he sounded like a CNN whack-o fool.
“I appreciate what Sean has done for conservatives and appreciate that hes on our side, but I find him almost intolerable to watch. Every topic is the mot important issue in the country right now, and his hyperbole and motor-mouth make him a poor interviewer. “
Almost? I can’t stand him. He says nothing that Rush hasn’t said better, and takes twice as long to say it.
Don’t I know it. I overlook her politics in order to like her show. Unfortunately, she is now branded a conservative for supporting Trump. She is nothing of the kind, of course, as you plainly show. But the sh!t they are going to throw on her, especially since she apologized, might just make her #walkaway.
Even if so, she’s got to learn some brand new street smarts. Don’t apologize. Double down. Do a comic apology. “OK. You wouldn’t let me be nice. So I’ll apologize again. Zira, I’m sorry I compared you to Valjar. That was cruel to a simian of your delicate sensibilities. ValJar, I’m sorry I compared you wrongly. You’re more like a marriage between the Muslim Brotherhood and a constipated llama. They had a baby=vj. Now give me back my friggin’ show, ABC!”
