Betsy DeVos’s $40 million yacht set adrift by vandals

A $40 million yacht owned by Education Secretary Betsy DeVos was reportedly untied from the dock at a northern Ohio marina and set adrift.

The captain of the 163-foot yacht, named "Seaquest," called the Huron Police Department early Sunday morning when the crew realized the boat was floating in the Huron Boat Basin, The Toledo Blade reported.

The yacht hit a dock, causing between $5,000 and $10,000 in damage, the newspaper added, citing a police report.

Investigators are hoping surveillance footage will show who untied the yacht from the dock.

It is one of 10 boats owned by DeVos and her family, according to the newspaper.

It is unclear why the Michigan family's boat was in northern Ohio, the Blade noted.

DeVos is one of the wealthiest members of President Trump’s Cabinet.

Business Insider reported in February that DeVos and her husband, former Amway CEO Dick DeVos, have an estimated net worth around $1.3 billion.

She and her husband are worth $1.3 Billion.

By comparison,
Someone worth $1.3 Million
would have a $40k boat

Many blue collar construction workers
Have $40k boats

Why do you feel the need to make a snarky comment?
Do you feel that it somehow shows how religious and pious you are?

If it gave Joseph some work I don’t think he’d complain.

I could make some pretty good decision regarding the DOE, while sitting on the aft deck sipping a cold one.

That sounds like something a jealous person would say.

You know, I just can’t see Jesus being ok with a $40,000,000 boat.

Some are blessed with prosperity, wealth in and of itself is not necessarily a bad thing. Coveting it is. A boat like that, how many people do you suppose have benefitted from it's existence above and beyond the owners? It has a crew, so there are jobs to support individuals and families. Is that bad? How about maintenance of it, there's another benefit to society as far as employment. Then there was the building of it. Envy and covetousness are bad, having the wealth to acquire such a yacht is not necessarily bad.

.
Do you see “Jesus” being ok with your deep seated envy?

Doest thou covet thy neighbor’s yacht?

Let’s remember she does not take a salary.

You’re the one that accused him of envy - I didn’t see that at all. But I’m sure it made you feel superior.

The reason it was in Northern Ohio is more than likely because it has been in the Great Lakes for the summer, for whatever reason, maybe even chartered. But this time of year, the larger mega yachts, and there are few of them, are taken south to Florida, more than likely the Caribbean for the winter season. They go east through Lake Erie and go through the locks into Lake Ontario then out to sea. I am pretty sure there is not winter storage in the Great Lakes for this size of boat and would be ridiculous. This yacht may even be going to the Mediterranean. Wherever it is going, it is a long trip and should start now as weather can become an issue in August, certainly September. It has been in Huron since July 20th and may be waiting for a myriad of things before the easy journey to the locks into Lake Ontario.

They are nice people who treated me well when I worked for them.

I have nothing bad to say about the DeVos Family.

Actually, I checked it out and it’s home port is George Town and flies the Grand Cayman flag. (Which is probably exactly where it is going for the winter charter market). So for anyone worried about the cost, this yacht is not only for personal pleasure but also a business venture.

That was funny how the word North Korean teachers used for our fork utensil was the same word for a farming tool used for shoveling dung.

It may not have been the usual vandals that set loose deVos’s yacht. Could be someone more serious is sending a message, maybe to her brother:
