If you're paying a mortgage on a house south of Interstate10, I have some bad news for you. For that matter, if you own a business, work or play south of that line (I'm thinking hunting and fishing) the news is just as dire:
President Donald Trump and your GOP congressional delegation are preparing to increase the odds that the Gulf of Mexico will drown your homes and any future your grandchildren might have in south Louisiana.
That's because Trump has nominated Brett Kavanaugh, a regular opponent of government regulations on businesses, to fill the coming vacancy on the Supreme Court -- and he has the support of your GOP delegation.
Environmental lawyers say Kavanaugh's confirmation could be a disaster for south Louisiana because the only chance the state has to win its $92 billion do-or-die race against sea level rise and sinking land is to keep government regulations reducing the volume of greenhouse gases industries are pumping into the air...

But government regulations are the only way to prevent capitalism from crushing all but the wealthy. Regulations are the referees for fair play in our system, making sure businesses protect the safety and quality of life of their employees. And more than 80 percent of us are their employees.
Think of the NFL without a salary cap or the guys in the striped shirts enforcing rules. That's what our society would look like without regulations.

Environmental regulations are the reason we can’t have incandescent light bulbs; the reason we can’t repair an air conditioner as the Freon costs too much, the reason paint, which used to be cheap as dirt, is now $50 per gallon for latex and $500 per gallon for blue or red auto paint.
The highest elevation in Florida south of I-10 is 312 ft above sea level....

How bad is the drivel, scientitically? Way bad.
The first bad is the last, in which subsidence is erroneously connected to any presumed sea level rise. It isn’t. Geogrophy, geology, land use, natural water effects, and the use and abuse of major waterways, such as the Missiippi River and the watershed of the coastal area of Gulf are all factors in subsidence.
As to the sea level rise predictions, which do not match empirical evidence, now or earlier, the scientific drivel and fear mongering deludes the sheeple into thinking CO2 regulations now will change that (if it were true).
Yet the science of the CO2 alamists has an “inconvenient truth” in it, that, due to the presumed atmospheeric life of CO2 released to the atmosphere, the most stringent CO2 controls enacted right away will have zero impact on the build-up in CO2 in the atmosphere for possiblly another 100 to 200 years, and then only if CO2 exhuasted by global human society is reduced to nil by then. In other words, if the science of the alarmists is correct, massive CO output reductions enacted soon will have no impact for generations, if then.
So, if the sheeple in Louisiana believe the alaramists, then they can forget about helping the situation in their, their children, their grandchildren or great grandchildren’s lives - they are already doomed if they stay.
If they believe “the sky is falling”, then leaving now would be better than voting for politicians seeking to vote for more regulations.
Now a little while back I saw a thing on Luisiana crawfishermen who where seeinf a crash in crawfish due to the pipelines being built and the dirt along them not being leveled down so the water flow through the swamps is stopped, stagnating and drying up.
Sounds feasable and fixable, but the truth is, Trump has been in office for how many months? This crap was allowed to happen during Bush and Obama’s reign. In fact, all the bad things environmentally happened under other people, and nothing under Trump so far.
The idea that the Federal Government paid Billions in Taxpayer Dollars to rebuild Homes located below Sea Level and only protected by Levees holding back the Sea was criminal.
Yah, he needs to get himself a histrionectomy.
But it makes sense for the government to continue to use taxpayer money to subsidize a city sitting at, or below, sea level?
What's so environmentally friendly about that?
Not to mention that Kavanaugh can at most only influence the carbon emissions of the United States, which rapidly shrinking from an already small percentage of the worldwide total.
