PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Last Friday, Maine Democrat Zak Ringelstein wasn’t ready to consider himself a formal member of the Democratic Socialists of America, even if he appreciated the organization’s values and endorsement in his bid to become a United States senator.
Three days later, he told The Associated Press that was ready to become the only major-party Senate candidate in the nation to be a dues-paying democratic socialist.
The swift evolution is latest evidence of a nationwide surge in the strength and popularity of an organization that, until recently, operated on the fringes of the liberal movement’s farthest left flank. But as Donald Trump’s presidency stretches into its second year, democratic socialism has become a significant force in Democratic politics. Its rise comes as Democrats debate whether moving too far left will turn off voters.
“I stand with the democratic socialists, and I have decided to become a dues-paying member,” Ringelstein told the AP. “It’s time to do what’s right, even if it’s not easy.”
There are 42 men and women running for offices at the federal, state and local levels this year with the formal endorsement of the Democratic Socialists of America, the organization says. They span 20 states, including Florida, Hawaii, Kansas and Michigan.

Just try and imagine what that surge of idiocy would be like under a Hillery admin.
No one would have to join a socialist/communist org. We’d all be enrolled by default.
They embrace getting rid of borders, they want ICE abolished, they want the US to be like Venezuela. Oh yeah, Democrats are going to do great in the midterms.
If she was POTUS it would have been the perfect storm of destruction, insanity on steroids. The left has never been as nuts as they are now and to top it off Hillary as President? Without question it would have been the end of the country, and people are complaining about Trump? Trump saved their ass like they can’t even begin to imagine.
As far as crushing it dead, we have the power, in the elections, to vote out these people.
Ocasio-Cortez will win her general election, I’m sure. But the rest of these so called Democrats, jumping on that bandwagon, we can defeat them.
Then Ocasio-Cortez will be lonely in Congress, and won’t be accomplishing anything, if she doesn’t have a bulk number of fellow Democrat/Socialists.
And this points up too, that if the GOP can retain control of Congress, we can blunt their impact.
All Democrats should be made to either endorse or reject “Democratic Socialism.” They need to be on record.

What is scary is that there could be enough airheads and flakes out there for this to actually gain traction. When you already have a billion dollars in Deep State TV networks and newspapers carrying water for you, it may not seem to be folly after all.

Support conservative candidates financially if at all possible. We have to counter Soros etc. This year’s midterm elections are more important than any in our lifetime.

This year is a make or break election. Should the DemoNazi’s win, we know they will vote impeach President Trump and then all bets are off for now through 2024. Fight the good fight with everything we have. It’s now or never.
Are the democratic socialists a political party or not? If they are their own party, then another democrat can run in this race, split the left wing vote, and maybe a republican can win.

I’m glad she won her district. Her opponent was far more sensible. She, as the new face of the democrats, will be a great gift to the Republicans.
