In a dramatic move Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell withdrew the nomination of President Donald Trump’s pick for the Ninth Circuit, Ryan Bounds, after reports surfaced that his nomination didn’t have enough votes for confirmation. Bounds, an assistant U.S. attorney in Oregon for the last eight years, was the Trump administration’s first nominee to the Ninth Circuit, named in September to replace Judge Diarmuid O’Scannlain, for whom Bounds clerked. O’Scannlain took senior status at the end of 2016.
Both of Bounds’ home-state senators, Democrats Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley, opposed his nomination. They withheld their blue slips for Bounds, in part, claiming he failed to disclose to their screening committee opinion pieces he wrote for a conservative student paper during his undergraduate studies at Stanford University.
In one article, Bounds railed against “race-focused groups” on college campuses, accusing them of fostering what he described as “race-think.” During his confirmation hearing, Bounds acknowledged the “overheated” and “overbroad” nature of his rhetoric, but defended his record of helping promote diversity within the profession. One Republican senator, Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, had indicated to colleagues earlier on Thursday he wouldn’t be able to vote for Bounds, according to a Capitol Hill reporter. Citing Bounds’ racial remarks, Scott said he needed more time before voting to approve the pick.
So not defeated, delayed !
I respect Scott enough. But Flake will take courage from this.
Made the mistake of critiquing “race think” and got a dose of it in response!

I like Tim Scott quite a lot, but he gets really dumb from time to time.
Bounds once gave a lecture when I was Stanford about business law and constitutional law. I’m sure he’s one of us. Ryan being a class A prick for Soros, is just being a prick as usual..
Attaboy Scott, because we know there is no reverse discrimination on our university campuses these days.
And of course none of that is driven by guys who aren’t White.
So as Whites are not forced to take racial sensitivity indoctrinations, and recant their White privilege, it is good of you go all sensitive on us, and deny a judge the ability to speak out against what isn’t actually happening.

I keep saying I wish the eGOP had the fighting spirit of the marxist America-Haters.
When the eGOP was in the minority they just put on their Eeyore faces: “Oh, poor us we cant do anything.”
Even when in the MAJORITY the eGOP acts like they are in the back seat with the libs driving the damn bus.

Very disappointing. I was looking forward to his being appointed to the Ninth Circuit.
It’s ok. We’ll likely have a stronger Senate come January, so we’ll be in good shape through 2020.
I’m nearly 60 and I’ve never seen a GOP Majority that’s as strong as a Rat minority. Never.
