Republican lawmakers were left shaking their heads after President Trumps Mondays press conference with Russian president Vladimir Putin, in which Trump declined to endorse the American intelligence communitys assessment that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election.
Senator John McCain (R., Ariz.) called it one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory and a tragic mistake in a statement. No prior president has ever abased himself more abjectly before a tyrant, McCain said. The damage inflicted by President Trumps naiveté, egotism, false equivalence, and sympathy for autocrats is difficult to calculate.
House speaker Paul Ryan also rebuked Trump, asserting that there is no question Russia attempted to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. The president must appreciate that Russia is not our ally, Ryan said. There is no moral equivalence between the United States and Russia, which remains hostile to our most basic values and ideals.
Senator Jeff Flake, a frequent critic of the president, called the press conference shameful and said Trump placed blame on the United States for Russian aggression.
Another outspoken critic, Senator Bob Corker, said he does want America to have a good relationship with Russia but thinks Trump made the U.S. look more like a pushover.
Senator Lindsey Graham called the summit a missed opportunity to hold Russia responsible for trying to undermine U.S. elections.
Staunch Trump ally Orrin Hatch issued a statement unequivocally blaming Russia for election meddling.
From the President on down, we must do everything in our power to protect our democracy by securing future elections from foreign influence and interference, regardless of what Vladimir Putin or any other Russian operative says, the Utah senator said.

He’ll get an extra donut and a pat on the head from Jonah Goldberg for posting some of National Review’s neverTrump drivel.
Like what the hell does that jackass think “somebody else” is going to get?
You try to make real change, and those people ratchet it up to levels that make what they did to W. seem tame.
If idiots like that (and a few of his ilk that still hang around here) think that the old rules still apply with the Deep State fully revealed, and that some limp-d**k Bush type is someone they “prefer”...then they all need to find some new interest, because they are nothing more than part of the problem.
The question that comes to mind is how much of the $400 billion got stuck on the conduit walls?
This is so comical I can’t help smiling. The problem with the Trump visit is not Trump comitting treason, the real problem is Putin spilling the beans. Or rather the spilled beans are actually worms squiggling out of the can Vlad opened in front of God, the world and everybody.
Maybe the DOJ unit in Little Rock investigating the Clinton Foundation can go to Russia for Vlad’s deposition on the matter.
He does it every time he accidentally exposes himself as a Bush League Republican.
Remember the screen name and ask him who he wants in 2020.
He has already said he wants somebody else.
Go to hell you worthless SOB!!!!
How refreshing to read your post. All of it is true and exactly the way I feel.
As an aside, Ed Rollins was his nasty self on Dobbs last night. It gave me great pleasure to unsubscribe to the unending emails from him begging for money. Fat Chance.
Did some other unsubscribing also. Disappointed in republican leadership along with Ryan, so I ditched them and feel much better.
>> It’s a dumb idea that war with Russia and praising Putin are the only two choices.<<
Let me give you and example of what is really a dumb idea, and that is the ignorant notion that President Trump should have shaken hands with Putin and then proceeded to admonish him for being a naughty boy. Such nonsense subverts the primary goal of the Summit meeting which is to have the nations’ leaders amicably engage in an effort to reach understandings and agreements that will be beneficial to both countries and thus to the entire planet.
And secondly, someone show what they did to actually influence more than a few hundred voters maybe. They probably did interject some stuff into our election but caused Hillary to lose, Please. Timing of Meullers Russian release, all the combined outrage, doesn’t add up. Anyway what was Trump supposed to do, embarrass Putin and argue with him on stage?
More evidence the enemy’s planned and coordinated attack has started. Look for them to deploy everything in their arsenal over the coming days. All out fight to the finish. Expect to get crazier by the day. Plug your ears and pay no attention to the coming screeching from the Unipart/MSM.
From John McCain who never met a war he didn’t like and aided terrorists in the Arab Spring and in Syria.
I never trust people who don’t put up the state they live in or give any personal information. It’s uncanny how that lack of info tells you so much about a person. Ironic!
Has anyone actually seen McCain speak (or Tweet) in the last few months?
Could Lindsay be McCain?
Members of the Deep State are worried. Brennan calls Trump a traitor and Linda Graham calls him weak. Oh the irony. Mueller indicted 12 Russians hours before the President was to meet with Putin. They are doing everything they can think of to weaken him. Sessions was instructed to recuse himself. When he suggested that he resign he was told he could not do that.
“Republican Lawmakers”. Right. Why not just say Bernie McCain and Flake?
Answer me this: WHERE ARE THE SERVERS?
The facts don’t matter. It’s all about the seriousness of the allegations.
Why are you not responding? I find that disgraceful! You want to post and then hide. I find that “dumb” and cowardly.
The reason he’s not responding is because he’s a hit and run troll.
Hey, NeverTrumper, WHERE THE HELL ARE THE SERVERS? You’re too much of a coward to answer that.
