The viral video was posted to Alyson Laliberte’s Facebook page on Saturday evening. Laliberte uploaded a video—which has already had over 600,000 views—and a picture of Lund. The caption with the video reads as follows. Y’all here is another Permit Patty trying to kick me off my own property because she’s having a hard time getting her kids to take a nap at 3:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday. I’m outside enjoying the afternoon with my daughter when this woman came downstairs and asked me if I would move so her kids can nap. Mind you it’s mid day and we weren’t even being loud at all drawing with chalk. She followed me around and harassed me trying to get my information and apartment number as if she had a right to know. When I wouldn’t tell her she proceeded to ask me if I lived in the “affordable apartments” of the building for Cambridge residents or if I lived in one of the Harvard owned apartments (which is all the same building anyways). It was totally discriminating and racist of her.. or maybe it was because my daughter is biracial who knows. I have no idea who this woman is and the fact that she thinks she has some kind of authority over me is crazy! She wanted to know what apartment number I lived at so she can yell outside my window to see if I like it (real mature) as you hear her say in the video. This woman’s house is no bigger than mine even if she lives in one of the apartments that are owned by Harvard. Despite color, where I live, how much money I have she will be buried 6 feet under just like me… Why do people think they are literally better than others? Why does she think she has a right to make us move? If she really did not want to be disturbed she would own a one family house instead of deciding on moving in to a condominium with a bunch of neighbors. I’ve lived in this complex for 15 years. Not one other person complained about my daughter and I. I have no idea who this woman is but if someone knows her please tag her and share this if you agree!!!!
I did tell him I wasn’t interested in talking religion or politics but that didn’t stop him from unloading on me. I responded a few times to him because I won’t let liberals attack my beliefs without a defense. Our conversation was maybe 5 minutes long and he excused himself (”I’m too drunk to properly respond to you”) after I pointed out that he was telling me to accept his lifestyle choices while he was unwilling to accept mine.
The scary thing is he’s an academic adviser in the psychology department at a major university.
Well I can understand how you would feel to be cornered and forced into a conversation like that.
But I personally don’t care what rude, aggressive liberals think or say about my beliefs, nor care what they think of my simply walking away.
Lots of snark about “loud chalk” but I watched the video and the kid lets out an ear-piercing scream. Was that what brought the woman down to ask them to move? There are a couple of kids in my neighborhood who shriek like this when they play. You would think they were being murdered. I’ve never complained because it usually doesn’t last very long, but it IS very disturbing.
I am still mostly on the side of the chalk mom & kid because they aren’t doing anything wrong. And also because of the threatening/creepy questions about “where do you live”?
But both parties could have tried to put themselves in the other’s shoes and worked this out. Knock off the threats and the questions. Move a few feet to a different part of the sidewalk. How hard is that?
Times have changed. I grew up in the city before the word gentrified was invented or was even a thing. Parents typically were in the house or at work while us kids played outside. If an adult came out and yelled at us to quiet down we would yell louder. If you ratted us out to our parents or threatened us we would make your life a living hell. Take the air out of your car’s tires, ring your doorbell, egg your house etc. There where houses we knew not to mess with, connected guys, mobbed up guys, police, fireman and tradesmen. This woman wouldn’t have lasted a week. I don’t know if I would like to go back to those days but part of me wishes people like this could get the old school treatment.

When I was growing up, it was normal to hear kids shrieking, laughing, yelling on a Saturday afternoon.
I wish I heard more of it today - it would mean that kids were outside playing ball or hide and seek, riding bikes, building forts; instead of being inside glued to the tv and computer. We didn’t have all of these attention-deficit/hyperactivity issues back then, either.
