I was sitting on my daughters bed reading Laura Ingalls Wilder, and this and other scenes in Little House on the Prairie stopped me cold. What had been, in my gauzy memory, a beautiful and pure story was complicated by passages like this: Why dont you like Indians, Ma? Laura asked, and she caught a drop of molasses with her tongue. I just dont like them; and dont lick your fingers, Laura, said Ma.

This stuff drives me crazy. They are the product of that era, from a woman of that era. A time capsule if you will.
Revisionist history will kill who were are by killing who we were.

Revisionist history will kill who we are are by killing who we were.
(A small edit for clarity)

Unfortunately, I think that is the whole idea of revisionist history.

You have to subscribe to read the article. What’s the author’s point? Time to trash the Little House books?

Sigh; here we go again. Ma feared Indians but Dad admired them. Sounds like reality to me.
To those who don’t know, these are brilliant books and good for children and adults. It’s a picture of the west as settled by our forefathers.
I have two sets of them.

Ooh! I meant Pa, not Dad!

Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past. ― George Orwell, 1984 We are just fighting a rear-guard action as we lurch from defeat to defeat. In spite of having a Republican President for 20 of the 36 years from 1981 to 1997, we have seen the Courts and weak politicians give us "gay" marriage, hiring quotas, open borders, virtually unlimited abortion, increased rights for criminals at the expense of the victims, massively expanded government spending, the appeasement of the islamic cult that wants to return us to the stone age, and, the latest abomination, capitulation to the insanity of "transgenderism". President Trump is being excoriated for merely slowing the pace of change, but in the bigger picture we are still losing the war. Whether it is 2020 or 2024, the Dems will someday return to power with the intention of destroying what is left of the Republic. The President needs to be defended at all costs.

The Ingalls family lived on the prairie during the time of the Indian wars. The frontier was a very dangerous place.

A country in tension. The little vignette about being a bit hyper-critical. Why care about licking fingers (at home)?

Gee....could it have had something to do with Indians killing settlers? Duh.
Of coure, modern libtards will insist it never happened or was all the fault of the settlers. They view everything from the safe, secure and prosperous PC landscape of 2018.
