Wasn’t the President of Finland in D.C. recently and met briefly with POTUS? I may have him confused with another leader.

If the bag was nothing, he’d have given it to an aide. Hope Trump’s security is watching. One would think Putin would have already bugged the chandelier to not be so obvious.

Back in the 70’s, we were in Russia and were warned that if the hotel room phone rang twice, it was to turn on the recording devices. I thought it was silly they’d have to turn it on but sure enough, within minutes of getting to the room the phone rang twice. Why anyone would want to record us is anyone’s guess but our check in was delayed because our room wasn’t ready and they supposedly had to move us to another one to give our original on to Kissinger. Maybe they thought we were with him or the snooper hadn’t been told of the room change. The reception desk greeted us by name before we told them who we were so that was an eyebrow raiser.

.3h..Nearly an hour behind schedule, Presidents Trump and Putin sit down for their summit. Pres Trump congratulates Putin on Russia's hosting of the World Cup. "It's great to be with you," Pres Trump tells Pres Putin. Says relations have not been good, but hopes can end up having "an extraordinary relationship."

.3h..Mark..In brief remarks during photo op, Pres Trump reminds that he campaigned on the assertion that "“getting along with Russia is good thing, not a bad thing.” He said he thinks the world wants the US and Russia, with 90% of the world's nuclear weapons, to get along."

Pres Trump said he and Putin will begin with their "personal discussion," and then join their delegations for more talks.

The two leaders exchanged brief remarks via consecutive translation. Translators to remain in the room for their "personal discussion."

"I hope we can do something about that," said Pres Trump of the size of the US and Russian nuclear arsenals. "The world awaits," he said, then leaning over to Putin to shake hands.

The Trump/Putin one-on-one meeting is scheduled to run 90 minutes. Then the leaders are to join their delegations for further talks and a working lunch. The is summit still scheduled to conclude with a joint press conference.

“In the United States we call it soccer," said Pres Trump, commenting on the World Cup games hosted by Russia. "I watched quite a bit of it, and I watched the entire final and the semi-final." he told Putin, congratulating him as host of the games.
