Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Friday that he wouldn't be "intimidated" by protesters who have confronted him in public several times this year.
"I'm not sure what about my career has led them to believe that I am easily intimidated. ... This is all about intimidation. It's not about persuasion but about intimidation. And I assure you I will not be intimidated by these groups of socialists who apparently prefer open borders," McConnell told reporters in Kentucky.
McConnell and his wife, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, were confronted as they left an event near Washington last month by protesters over supporting detained families who were caught crossing the U.S.-Mexico border illegally.
Protesters heckled McConnell again at two restaurants in Kentucky over the weekend, according to the Courier Journal, urging him to look at abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
"Honestly, I enjoyed my lunch and I'm just sorry that other people at the restaurant seemed to be inconvenienced by all of this. But it's not about persuasion. It's about intimidation. I will not be intimidated by these people," McConnell added on Friday.

He’d much rather collaborate with them on the QT.
Go Mitch! Watch as The Turtle claps back at the haters!
As long as Mitch has his wife backing him up he's golden.
Anyone who is open-borders yet locks their door at night, or tries to keep anyone out, is a lying hypocrite. There is no difference between one’s own front door and national borders.
There is a line between petitioning the government with free speech and public harassment. They crossed it long ago.
Exactly.
Turtle Power!
I must be in the minority, but I still am grateful to Mitch McConnell, for holding the line, holding the Supreme Court vacancy after Scalia died, so that Trump could fill that vacancy. And then, Mitch successfully invoked the “nuclear option” so that the Gorsuch nomination would not be torpedoed by a Democrat filibuster. And due to that action on the filibuster rule, Judge Kavanaugh will be confirmed as well.
That’s not to say I agree with everything he’s ever done, I’m just saying, on the issue of judges, he’s done a lot for the conservative cause.
Is Mitch actually growing a set? Must be all that hanging out with Trump. He does have that effect on people.
I’ve pretty much shut up ANY libtard here in Hollywood who wanted to bitch about Trump’s wall...
I easily ask them “you have walls in your house and apartment, right?” That shuts these assholes up.
I’m TOTALLY with you on McConnell. Also consider that the RINOs are likely the problem in the Senate, rather than McConnell, as it only takes one or two to veto ANYTHING that he wants to do, including speeding up confirmations.
I paid for my house so that I could have somewhere to call my own, no one else’s. Americans paid for America though blood and hard work for the same reason. No one else has a right to it.
Agreements have been reached. FBI doesn’t go to jail and Russia takes the hit.
Sounds like Mitch is CCWing.
He certainly isn’t intimidated by conservatives.
Agreed
Well stated and the crux of the argument.
Good for McConnell... he saved our bacon with the Supreme Court and all the judges he’s gotten through... glad he’s not intimidated by socialist thugs.
I think McConnell’s has a good year. The reason we’re in the position we are with the courts is because of him.
