They used this game known as spear p hishing, which involves sending misleading messages and tricking users into disclosing password information. Second they hacked into computer networks and installed malicious software that allowed them to spy on users and capture keystrokes, take screenshots, and remove data from those computers. The defendants access to the mail accounts of the U.S. presidential campaign, including the campaign chairman starting in March of 2016. They hacked into the computer networks of a Congressional campaign committee and a national political committee. The defendants covertly monitored the computers and planted hundreds of files containing malicious computer code and stalled emails and — and stole him outside documents. They used personas to release information, including thousands of stolen emails and other documents beginning in June of2016. The defendants falsely claimed that DC Leaks was American hackers and Lucifer 2.0 was a lone hacker. Both were created and controlled by the Russian GRU. In addition to releasing documents to the public, they transferred stolen documents to another organization not identified by name in the indictment, and used that organization as a pass-through to release the documents. They discussed the timing of the release to enhance the impact on the election.
Deep State wants to make sure that this comes out before Trump meets Putin. Will the USG allow the indicted Russians to have discovery.
