And this is how its done, folks.
Its now being reported that the Trump administration isnt fooling around when it comes to nations not wanting to take in their own citizens who decide disrespect our nation by coming here illegally.
The Department of Homeland Security has now announced that the administration has hit some government officials from Burma and Laos with visa sanctions as punishment for both countries refusal to take back their own citizens that the U.S. was caught in our nation illegally and is in the process of trying to deport.
The U.S. embassy in Rangoon, Burma, has put out a press release that it will immediately halt the issuance of tourist and business non-immigrant visas to senior officials in the ministries of Labor, Immigration, Population and Home Affairs. And in Laos, the U.S. mission will no longer grant tourist and business non-immigrant visas to senior officials from the Laotian Ministry of Public Security. These restrictions also apply to the officials immediate family members.

Beautiful! If I haven’t said this lately...LOVE MY POTUS!
Not good enough. Eliminate ALL visas, ALL immigration applications, ALL funding to ALL countries violating our laws. Enforce this action for 10 years.
/why just hit government officials?
Fair enough. I wonder, though, how many people come here legally from Laos and Burma? It might be more of an immediate message to hit the officials.
Hell, shut it ALL down. We have a National Security crisis with illegal invaders.
Either the returnees directly threaten the country’s stability, or they are a useless burden on the economy; criminals and the like. Thus, the parent country doesn’t want them back. However, stopping legitimate visas from being issued is not a threat or a punishment to the parent country. Most likely, they couldn’t care less. However, the threat of cutting off aid or even sanctions against their products, that’s something they will listen to and react to. Hit them in the wallet, not with some bureaucratic paperwork snafu that doesn’t even effect “the government.”
Because those government officials are the only ones who can change their 'policy'.
Great, now I’m going to get an ear full from my Laotian neighbor.
Beautiful! If I havent said this lately...LOVE MY POTUS!
I have said out loud - “I love this guy” about 3 times in the last 2 days!
Should do the same for Mexico and Central America as well.
America has a new ‘Sheriff’ in town and he isn’t taking guff from anyone.
Mess with us and we’ll kick you’re @$$ and take you’re gas!
Because they hit him first - the refusal of their own refuse.
Shithole countries.
cripes...maybe Burma wont take them back but Myanmar will ? or maybe they wont if we keep calling them Burma.
Perhaps we need a catchy tune for Burma\Myanmar like Istanbul\Constantinople
Agreed...not enough.
Cut off any US dollars going to these countries.
2 rinky dink countries. Doesn’t matter. What matters is if any other countries want to risk losing any benefits they get from the US. I’m sure they’ll get the message without any of us noticing, especially the left.
I agree. Limiting it to government officials in specified countries MIGHT be effective in very limited situations, but what you suggest would also have the benefit of not having to set a new policy or re-think each problem that comes up.
Cut them off entirely! Don’t just stop with government ministries ... no visas processed for anyone with a Burmese or Laotion passport. After all, it probably isn’t a person from one of these Ministries (or their relatives) who are coming into the US and overstaying their visas ...
