When Donald Trump started running for the Republican nomination for president in June 2015, he began by attacking the Republican establishment in Washington, and he began his attack by calling the establishment "the swamp."
His real target was the permanent government and its enablers in the legal, financial, diplomatic and intelligence communities in Washington. These entities hover around power centers no matter which party is in power. Beneath the swamp, Trump argued, lies the deep state. This is a loose collection of career government officials who operate outside ordinary legal and constitutional frameworks and use the levers of government power to favor their own, affect public policy and stay in power. Though I did not vote for Trump -- I voted for the Libertarian candidate -- a part of me rejoiced at his election because I accepted his often repeated words that he would be a stumbling block to the deep state and he'd drain the swamp.
On Monday night, he rewarded the swamp denizens and deep state outliers by nominating one of their own to the Supreme Court.

In other words, Kennedy wanted Kavanaugh. I really don't know why Fox keeps this midget thinker on their panels. He brings no insight, and most of the time he's wrong.
I would have preferred a D.C. outsider who had nothing to do with the Vince Foster investigation.
Kav is a moderate. The minor illegal girl getting an abortion, for example.
We needed a true conservative.
But RBG will be dead soon (she’s 85) and Thomas is going to retire.
That’ll be four picks for Trump his first term!
Time for you to retire, Judge....
Since I heard Napolitano say this I am now 100% behind this candidate. I think this judge has problems.
Because I am thinking like a 2nd year law student.
YAY!...if Napolitano is UNhappy.....I am HAPPY!
A right decision
I would have preferred a D.C. outsider

Me too. Kav may vote with conservatives most of the time but is sure to disappoint on some future key rulings. He’s totally establishment.
Napolitano usually defends illegal immigration.
All four or five picks had pluses and minuses, mostly pluses.
There was no one person perfect. Of the 4 or 5, I’m fine with this pick. The fact that dems and this so called judge dislike him, makes him all the better in my mind.
Thomas is great, but he’s aging.
We could have that slot for the next 30+ years if Thomas retires now.
Otherwise, he’ll be in the ‘clinging to life’ RBG mode possibly in 3-8 years.
I think Trump would be re-elected, but not sure he wants to stay there 8 years.
the judge is insane sometimes.
Kavenaugh is a Jesuit taught lawyer - the ends justify the means.
Dems are always pushing the ‘Overton window’ to the left. Make the moderates seem like they are ‘extreme right wing.’
Saying, “A marriage is between a man and a woman” is now a ‘hate crime’ to leftists. And it’s exactly what Obama and Hillary said a decade ago.
Kav is a moderate.
Sour grapes. Andy thought it would be him.

The nappy is a moron, Jim.
YAY!...if Napolitano is UNhappy.....I am HAPPY!
Bush II guy who pushed for Roberts and we all know how that worked out. And was on the same path as Roberts visa-vie the “tax” definition of Obamacare.
We can only hope if he gets confirmed he finds his way back to true originalism.
Andrew Napolitano supported the prosecution of the Colorado Baker, Jack Phillips for refusing to service a gay wedding ( I heard him on the radio ).
I would not listen to him when it comes to constitutional issues. He is NOT always on the side of religious liberty.
I agree, although I was actually talking about Napolitano retiring, you made a good point....
Judge Nap is, at best, a libertarian on some issues and a establishment RINO on most others. He's also a homosexual who lived with his domestic partner until 2013 when his partner died, then left a sappy tribute to "the love of his life" in his latest book. So an icon of Conservative values he certainly is not....
