Live Coverage: Peter Strzok Questioned by Members of Congress
House lawmakers are poised to question Peter Strzok on Thursday in what is sure to be a lengthy, tense standoff between Republicans and the FBI agent who once worked on special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference.
Strzok has been in Republicans' sights for several months after a Justice Department inspector general investigation revealed that he exchanged text messages before the 2016 election that were critical of Donald Trump with Lisa Page, a former FBI lawyer with whom he was having an affair at the time.
Mueller promptly removed Strzok from the Russia investigation when the messages were revealed, but Republicans have zeroed in on him as key to uncovering what they allege was systemic FBI bias against Trump during the election. Democrats, meanwhile, have cast the effort as a politically-driven charade.
Lawmakers questioned Strzok behind closed doors late last month — now, those on the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees will have the opportunity to question him publicly.
Strzok is under subpoena to testify before the committees in the public hearing.
Strzok plans to call scrutiny ‘another notch in Putin’s belt’

Strzok reportedly plans to tell lawmakers that the focus on his anti-Trump text messages is aiding Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Associated Press, which reviewed prepared remarks Strzok is expected to deliver, reported that the FBI agent will defend himself against the intense scrutiny from GOP lawmakers by saying his work has been free of political bias.
“Let me be clear, unequivocally and under oath: not once in my 26 years of defending my nation did my personal opinions impact any official action I took,” Strzok will say, according to the AP.
He is expected to tell lawmakers that Congress’s focus on his actions and text messages “is just another victory notch in Putin’s belt and another milestone in our enemies’ campaign to tear America apart.”

If the mid-terms go well for Trump then Sessions will be out if he really is a swamp dweller as it should be possible to get someone else confirmed - assuming the truth all comes out prior to the elections.

Strzok’s appearance is cementing his position as the face of today’s FBI. No honest American should ever voluntarily cooperate with this political organization again.

Why does it matter? Because the FBI has a way of siding with the corrupt "Power Establishment of the Time". In the 1964 the FBI sided with vile racists... Now they side with people who hate Trump.
We're not defined by our ‘choice of victim’ - we're defined by a ‘rule of law’ framework that puts blindfolded justice first... The FBI is tainted... Agents in DC need to be rotated every 6 years with agents in flyover...
Does anyone else notice how much Strzok sounds like Comey?! It’s the phenomenon that you start adopting speech patterns and cadence subconsciously with people you spend a lot of time with and for which you have an affinity and whom with you tend to agree. Close you eyes and listen. You hear Coney, his butt buddy.
I am concerned that the neither the FBI or DOJ saw a reason to take Strzok’s personal phones and computers to see if there was any statements on those devices that indicated Strzok colluded or proposed collusion regarding FBI activities.
Instead the FBI or DOJ let Strzok tell them that his personal phones and computers had no ‘work related’ information on the devices.
If the FBI or DOJ are investigating a person for a crime, I believe they would immediately take possession of personal phones and computers to see if there is incriminating evidence.
I’ve never ever seen anything like it! An utter disgrace and orchestrated preplanned attempt by Dems to subvert testimony! I hope to hell all this backfires so damn bad! This is the most unreal POS and Strzok is a lying liar!!!! CIRCUS!
