It’s the phenomenon that you start adopting speech patterns and cadence subconsciously with people you spend a lot of time with and for which you have an affinity and whom with you tend to agree. And if you somehow do find yourself having to answer a question from the FBI it should be, “I do not recall...” as far as possible. Beyond that it should be prefaced as they preface theirs—”To the best of my recollection...”.
