Hearing begins at 10AM EST:
Live Coverage: Peter Strzok Questioned by Members of Congress
House lawmakers are poised to question Peter Strzok on Thursday in what is sure to be a lengthy, tense standoff between Republicans and the FBI agent who once worked on special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference.
Strzok has been in Republicans' sights for several months after a Justice Department inspector general investigation revealed that he exchanged text messages before the 2016 election that were critical of Donald Trump with Lisa Page, a former FBI lawyer with whom he was having an affair at the time.
Mueller promptly removed Strzok from the Russia investigation when the messages were revealed, but Republicans have zeroed in on him as key to uncovering what they allege was systemic FBI bias against Trump during the election. Democrats, meanwhile, have cast the effort as a politically-driven charade.
Lawmakers questioned Strzok behind closed doors late last month now, those on the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees will have the opportunity to question him publicly.
Strzok is under subpoena to testify before the committees in the public hearing.
Strzok plans to call scrutiny another notch in Putins belt
8:30 a.m.
Strzok reportedly plans to tell lawmakers that the focus on his anti-Trump text messages is aiding Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Associated Press, which reviewed prepared remarks Strzok is expected to deliver, reported that the FBI agent will defend himself against the intense scrutiny from GOP lawmakers by saying his work has been free of political bias.
Let me be clear, unequivocally and under oath: not once in my 26 years of defending my nation did my personal opinions impact any official action I took, Strzok will say, according to the AP.
He is expected to tell lawmakers that Congresss focus on his actions and text messages is just another victory notch in Putins belt and another milestone in our enemies campaign to tear America apart.
ETC...
Well, yes, of course.
That is the fate of liars!
Hopefully
Yes, if all those agents can be identified.
Lofgren is a colossal bore.
Damn shame Demonic-rats have to participate.
“Do Nadler and Cummings really believed the American people believe their baloney?”
Yes, they do. Shoot, even they possibly believe their baloney by now. The capacity of ‘progressives’ to believe what the want/need to believe, and to accept their opinions as self-evident truth, is appalling.
“Hopefully Jordan will beat the crap out of his pompous attitude.”
Is Jordan there? I was wondering since his nephews death was so recent.
Your scenario is probably correct. I believe Trump has more than sufficient evidence of corruption in the FBI and DOJ by now to go before the American people and make his case for cleaning house and reforming these rogue agencies. There is literally a mountain of evidence that he can use to justify his actions.
I think the American people see the need for, and want to restore integrity back into these agencies. They will support him on this. I agree with your idea that he should start with declassifying the documents. This will give the public some time to digest the depth of corruption and expose the abuse of power by people who violated the trust placed in them.
For the sake of the country, the cabal of partisans that have infested these agencies has to be cleaned out. And soon.
Yes, Jordan is present and raring to go!
John Duncan’s questioning is stupid. Wants to know if Dickhead will “apologize” to the American people. Dickhead once again denies his comments were in any way biased. Sheesh.
Some dried up old lib broad asking questions now (are there any straight white males on the RATS’ team? Just wondering...).
Still contend the questioning should be done just by Gowdy, with maybe a little Jordan thrown in. Strzok wouldn’t be so smug looking then, I bet!
Is Jordan there?
—
Yes, he is.
Thanks for the thoughtful reply. Please see my #347.
Regards.
Dried up old bag holds up another RAT prop.
Nadler and Cummings don’t care if the American people believe it or not. The votes were cast, the members were sworn in and then it’s free-for-all in an exclusive club.
In politics, the coin of the realm is votes.
LOL.
I think that’s Carolyn Maloney from New York.
She’s washed-up, too.
One of ours is next!
Exactly as I said in 15: after all the bs our position will be hurt at the end of day.
I agree.
I'm even working for CA governor candidate John Cox!
Maybe they are ‘swingers’ and she doesn’t care.
