House lawmakers are poised to question Peter Strzok on Thursday in what is sure to be a lengthy, tense standoff between Republicans and the FBI agent who once worked on special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference.
Strzok has been in Republicans' sights for several months after a Justice Department inspector general investigation revealed that he exchanged text messages before the 2016 election that were critical of Donald Trump with Lisa Page, a former FBI lawyer with whom he was having an affair at the time.
Mueller promptly removed Strzok from the Russia investigation when the messages were revealed, but Republicans have zeroed in on him as key to uncovering what they allege was systemic FBI bias against Trump during the election. Democrats, meanwhile, have cast the effort as a politically-driven charade.
Lawmakers questioned Strzok behind closed doors late last month — now, those on the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees will have the opportunity to question him publicly.
Strzok is under subpoena to testify before the committees in the public hearing.
Strzok plans to call scrutiny ‘another notch in Putin’s belt’

Strzok reportedly plans to tell lawmakers that the focus on his anti-Trump text messages is aiding Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Associated Press, which reviewed prepared remarks Strzok is expected to deliver, reported that the FBI agent will defend himself against the intense scrutiny from GOP lawmakers by saying his work has been free of political bias.
“Let me be clear, unequivocally and under oath: not once in my 26 years of defending my nation did my personal opinions impact any official action I took,” Strzok will say, according to the AP.
He is expected to tell lawmakers that Congress’s focus on his actions and text messages “is just another victory notch in Putin’s belt and another milestone in our enemies’ campaign to tear America apart.”

The longer it takes to start draining the Swamp the worse it will get. Just like when termites infest a house and weaken the structure to the point that it is in danger of collapsing on its occupants.
They changed the wording because they didn’t want to make it appear that she was guilty- NOT because it wasn’t correct.
Exactly, we can only hope she cracks like an egg. She won't have an FBI lawyer with her. And the fact that Strrrrrzok does is an outrage.

Hubs has an extremely high security clearance. He was furious that Hillary got away with this. He knew exactly why the wording was changed. He’d get a prison sentence if he did what Hillary did.
How about Strzok and Page aren’t in an illicit affair? It’s complimentary cover for their bias.

Sounds like Congress will need to subpoena ALL of the people in that room.

If he was no longer employed at the FBI, Horowitz couldn’t touch him and Congress couldn’t subpoena him.
I expect the Dems will do double-time to obstruct justice just like they did for Strzok.
Without the change in wording, Hillary would had to have been “prosecuted,” thus rendering her unfit to RUN for the Democrat presidential nomination.
I believe Trump is thinking more strategically. Draining the swamp now (July) by taking charge of the FBI and DOJ would give the Dems and their media allies another opportunity to attempt to show Trump as above the rule of law and use it to Dem advantage in the November mid-term elections.
If the Pubs lose, the Dems will most certainly move to impeach and use the swamp draining as an excuse (obstruction of justice). If that happens, Trump will be in a straitjacket and will be hampered in his MAGA actions. If the Pubs retain the House (and Senate) he will be free to say he has the support of the American people when he does act.
