I think Kavanaugh is virtue signaling to get the red state democrat votes and the RINO senator from Alaska and Collins.
It's funny how things come around in full circle. When I was a kid I remember the hot topic of conversation was the fact that JFK was a Catholic. He was the first Roman Catholic President.

He was on solid legal ground from a textualist perspective only. From an originalist point of view, he was wildly afield. A person’s papers and effects are their papers and effects. Where they are located notwithstanding. years of policing, ( also not Constitutional in every case) have flattened the 4th Amendment. An originalist interpretation of the 4th would not allow the police to read your mail if you left it lying on the front porch without a warrant, duly sworn. The idea that your papers and effects must be behind a locked door in order to be safe from the government is a totalitarian idea.

A President cannot control or ensure a judge votes a certain way.
President Trump refereed to that by saying he didn’t ask about.a judge’s political views but whether the judge would uphold the Constitution and the rule of law.
He thought that’s exactly what Kavanaugh would do.

We have way too many federal judges who bring “not law” into their decisions.

Ingraham just admitted that Kavanaugh isn’t as much of a textualist as Scalia.
For the foreseeable future, yes. But precedent has a way of getting overturned.
That’s why the Democrats can be expected to be on a jihad to torpedo Kavanaugh.
He isn’t someone they can count on as a sure vote.
If Roe is safe with Kavanaugh on the bench then this was a wasted pick
Pretty tepid protest. They even left their pussy hats at home.
For some reason, it seems many people simply cannot think strategically. All intention & action must be overt - like entertainment, where the masses must be satisfied with the obvious.
However, for those who see the bigger picture, it's not a surprise in the slightest that Trump played a tactical 'Bush card'. Kavanaugh should easily pick up the 2-3 left leaning R senators, as well as a couple of D's running in red states.
This selection was a punt to gain better field position later in the game. Trump must have his nominee confirmed, and his supporters must win in November; everything else is literally moot.
Trump pulls off these two core objectives, and he's well placed to hand out some major ass kicking in 2019. With no ability to defend against future nominees, hard right constitutionalism will be able to be rammed through with little/zero opposition from Ds.
