IHOP is officially back to its original identity as the International House of Pancakes.
On Monday, the chain announced on social media that its time as IHOb the International House of Burgers had come to an end.
"We're giving away 60¢ short stacks on July 17 from 7a-7p for IHOP's 60th birthday. That's right, IHOP! We'd never turn our back on pancakes (except for that time we faked it to promote our new burgers)," the chain posted on Facebook.

It did take them quite as long to recognize their marketing bomb.
HRC must be in charge of marketing... Scooby dooby dooby dooby doo...
This could be IHOP’s “New Coke” marketing lesson.
” And what happened to the PR rep? Promotion?
it’s funny you should ask, when the PR marketing Guru at Coca-Cola came up with the New Coke idea and after it utterly failed... He was brought before the CEO of coke and thought he was going to be fired immediately. The CEO of Coke chewed some serious @$$ and then asked the promoted the shell-shocked marketing Guru what was the problem. and he said “well I thought you were going to fire me” and the CEO of coke said “oh no, I wouldn’t fire you, you have the most experience of every or any PR manager at Coke.”
The lesson in that is that failure is sometimes rewarded with promotion because of the experience gained from the utter failure of a poor decision.
Believe it or not. I learned that in Business School.
Went to Waffle House today for the first time in a few years.
I got two eggs, sausage patties, large hashbrowns, a waffle and toast for $8 with tax.
I thought it beat the McDonalds Double Quarter Pounder with cheese combo for over $10.

Not really. The makeup of IHOP never lent self to a hamburger joint. McDonald’s may serve pancakes, but everyone knows they are a hamburger joint

You Cooked the Bunny????
Could have been worse
they could have been promoting chicken sandwiches. IHOC.. Hoc, hoc, hoc... hochhhhhhhhh
.
Know your competencies and focus on them. Trying to expand the menu means adding foods they don’t do as well that others can get elsewhere.
Invent new flavors of pancakes, new styles of breakfast foods. But don’t add lunch and dinner to the menu.
Yeah...but they DID change it. So we were both right. Name changed and it was a marketing ploy to introduce a new menu. No matter. I’ve never eaten there and now...never will.
This ad campaign was just an attempt to increase the lunch and dinner crowd.
I've been to quite a few IHOP's and the key word is 'inconsistency'. Some IHOP's are great and others are just so-so or worse. I had one of the best fried chicken meals at one IHOP and one of the worst breakfasts at another.
I'm hoping that this national campaign means that the HQ is going to start imposing some consistency in their franchises, but I'm not expecting much.
The only comments were derisive and frankly I still don't plan to go to a iHOP.
Should call it iHOPTE = I have other places to eat.
