My Dad invented a “Slosh-Proof” cover for Dixie Cups, back in the ‘50’s. Of course, in those days it was made from thin cardboard rather than plastic.
He never patented or marketed it, though.

A water bottle I got a while back looked perfect for the task, until I opened it and found that instead of a cup-lip it had a stupid NIPPLE the user had to suck on. Oh, I'm sorry...I was drinking out of a cup more than 70 years ago.
