Judge Raymond Kethledge is being increasingly portrayed as the consensus or compromise candidate for the Supreme Court in media descriptions of President Donald Trumps decision making process, suggesting his inevitability despite concerns over such a pick among Trumps base. As Donald Trump moves to finalize his Supreme Court pick, Judge Raymond Kethledge is getting a behind-the-scenes push portraying him as the consensus choice of conservatives, Politico reported Thursday, citing positive interviews and support by conservatives like Hugh Hewitt, many of whom are strongly linked with Never Trump sentiments.
The narrative picked up from there. On Friday, The Hill adopted Hewitts Gorsuch 2.0 descriptor, imparting, as Hewitt had, an air of inevitability to a Kethledge pick.
The Daily Mail, meanwhile, went all out on the compromise narrative. Slamming other possibilities like Judges Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Barrett, the Mails Geoff Earle writes, An emerging potential compromise pick to win President Trumps nomination to serve on the Supreme Court has Midwest roots lauds people who drink beer straight out of the bottle.'
In contrast to effusive praise of Kethledges heartland appeal, Judge Barrett is described as a member of a controversial religious group who is being pushed by some evangelical leaders.

So, from that you jump wildly to the conclusion he is for open borders.
Foolishness
Thank you for posting this FACTUAL explanation :)
I get worried when I watch us jump on or off a bandwagon at the behest of supposedly conservative allies. Emoting before investigating is a hallmark of the left. I’ve done it too sometimes, and probably will again but I try to guard against it.
Before the hoopla started I found enough about Kethledge to convince me he’d make an outstanding AJ at SCOTUS. I haven’t found anything to change my mind. He’s my first choice and I have no real doubts about the others, though Kavanaugh worries me a bit, but I may be wrong.
The nonsense and outright lies being perpetrated by Coulter sicken me. She’s full of it and worse, she knows it, unlike her followers who trust her judgment. Shame on her.
There was no reason to grant standing to the guy who overstayed his visa for all those years. The law is based on statute and precedent. Kethledge was the one guilty of foolishly wild reasoning, not me, and in his case, those wild leaps of judicial fancy will live forever in the law.
Trump would be disappointed if the media weren’t full of speculation.
And she should not misrepresent a case where the judge she was attacking was in fact following rule of law by failing to uphold ambiguous laws.
Violent crimes without definition or enumeration? I have a 30 sq ft sunken depression on a coastal property that has some cat tails growing on it. That makes that 30 sq feet in the middle of otherwise useable land a protected "wetland." Have I committed a violent crime if my lawnmower takes out some of the cat-tails? Do I go to prison for aggravated assault against the environment. [PS this a hypothetical and the cat-tails are thriving]. The thing that would protect me in this case is the principal of lenity that Kethledge signed onto on the cited case.
Barrett is a pig in a poke. She jst is.
And Kethledge is an open-borders man. So is Hardiman.
He’s got open-border views and too many of the wrong people are pushing him, for sure.
Good Lord, wait till Monday. I’m skipping all of this speculative BS.
Why should anybody care what they have to say in this matter?
Democrats can go all out, and pick Justices like Ginsburg and Sotamayor.
Republicans are expected to choose “consensus” candidates.
Consensus candidates are acceptable to The Swamp. That is no recommendation to the rest of us.
Everything I’m reading points to Barrett or Kavanagh.
Kethledge is far more liberal than Justice Kennedy.
Kethledge favors open borders and rights for illegal immigrants.
Trump knows that the perception about whoever he picks will seriously impact whether or not his base will vote in November. He also knows that his own re-election will also depend on the actual records of Gorsuch and this pick being consistent with what he promised.
The MSM would call Maxine Waters, Hillary Clinton, Keith Ellison, etc. ultra conservatives without batting an eye if they thought they could get away with it.
To motivate the base Barrett is the choice I would think.
But the Swamp doesn't want one (as McConnell has made clear), Collins and Murkowski will oppose them, and McCain has made it all one vote harder.
Because whether we get Kavanagh, Barrett or Kethledge, we are NOT getting Merrick Garland or Lorretta Lynch.
PINCH ME! President Donald John Trump is getting his 2nd Supreme Court pick in only 18 months!!! Hallelujah!
Unfortunately for Ann Coulter, I think age has not helped her on either of those two things.
So sad for the media that they don’t get to pick the replacement and nudge us back onto the communist way.
