Judge Raymond Kethledge, by some reports now the frontrunner to receive President Donald Trumps nomination to replace Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, could put Trumps America First policies in jeopardy if he were to become the swing vote on the nations highest court.
Since President George W. Bush appointed Kethledge to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, he has consistently demonstrated interpretations of immigration law at odds with the conservative wing of the Supreme Court and, more broadly, the notion that American immigration laws exist for the benefit of Americans. He has also shown a willingness to inject his own sympathies with the plight of illegal aliens facing deportation into his opinions.

There will be no leak and the media will have a hay day on Sunday.
I suppose Collins and Murkowski will be invited to every show.
The media primarily care about two things: Will the nominee allow a massive wave of unvetted filthy people to swamp us from the south? and Will the nominee allow irresponsible women (and girls) to kill their babies if they feel like doing so?
Okay, three things, because they also really really care about damaging President Trump in any way possible.
Since immigration is Trump’s big issue, I seriously doubt he’d nominate an amnesty advocate.
“Like”
ill consider Not considering you because you are laced with Bush. Pass!
Isnt interesting how the dimwit Liberal left radical fools always stick together even their judge nominees. But the GOPe, why these idiots could not find their way out of a paper bag and they nominate judges who are Not in the least conservative. Its baffling and cause contention in scotus appeals.
But he is in the top 3 per reports. There are questions about Kavanaugh (Vince Foster case), Kethledge (immigration), Barrett (was wishy washy on Trump prior to election). Most even here seem to not understand that people are very complex and difficult to know. We are surprised about people we marry after all. The safest choice, is someone politically known, for many years preferably.
I can only think the Jared/Ivanka wing of the administration are behind this. His record on immigration was well known even before his name was floated. Bad choice.
The only nominee with a proven track record on immigration is Brett Kavanaugh. Amy Barrett might be OK, or might not. She's a big question mark in this area of law.
This is based on the outcome of some case, not the reasoning the went into it. It's not the outcome that matters but how he got there.
perhaps:
Kirstjen Michele Nielsen (born May 14, 1972)
Secretary of Homeland Security

She earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1999.
Since Senator Collins is going to block an abortion reformer, I say go with a law and order person.
She’ll learn the ropes of running the court from the other eight Justices.
Did Trump actually say it was between Kethridge, Kannanaugh and Barrett?
I’m still thinking it’s Thapar.
Thapar would be one hell of a curve ball. Neither of the “K” guys are going to help the USA now.
Let’s go for the Indian guy...
“The safest choice, is someone politically known, for many years preferably.”
Judges don’t like to make their personal views known.
Picking a judge for the Supreme Court is risky.
Ordinarily, I’d prefer a Senator, but the Republican margin in the Senate is just too small.
Any Congressmen stand out as being worthy?
[I’ve looked over Republican Congresswomen -all the young ones lack a law degree.]
They just don't make 'em like John Kerry and the Bushes anymore lol.
The left wants unfettered murder of babies and unfettered importation of colonists. The grandstanding during hearings will be absolutely as disgusting as the Bork travesty.

It discusses a number of cases.
He seems to be a fair, no-nonsense judge.
He clerked for Justice Kennedy.
I did not know this before, but I consider it disqualifying.
If you get it wrong on abortion, second amendment, or immigration, move on.
“This is based on the outcome of some case, not the reasoning the went into it. It’s not the outcome that matters but how he got there.”
It is not “some case” it is many cases. The Bush administration was in favor of illegal immigrants. Kethledge was a Bush appointee.
Here is one example:
In Nguyen v. Holder Kethledge prevented the deportation of a criminal with a green card who, after lying about an earlier drug conviction on his citizenship application, committed grand theft auto. Kethledge agreed with Jimmy Carter-appointee and notoriously left-leaning Judge Gilbert Merritt that his conviction was not an aggravated felony mandating deportation.
Later, the Supreme Court addressed a very similar case involving residential burglary. Four justices relied on the very same Nguyen case. That law was struck down as unconstitutionally vague, allowing the convicted burglar to avoid deportation.
