Europeans leaders worry Trump wants to fulfill promise to bring American troops home

WASHINGTON After 18 months of Donald Trump's "America First" presidency, European leaders meeting with him next week fear the United States may change its traditional course and begin to bring American troops home from the continent.

It comes as nations, especially in Eastern Europe, are lobbying the United States to increase the number of troops on the continent as they worry about combating an increasingly aggressive Russia.

Trump has talked about bringing U.S. troops home from around the globe since he was on the campaign trail espousing a strategy he dubbed "America First” but he has yet to act.

"They are scared to death," former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta told McClatchy. "They are worried about a very unpredictable president of the United States. They are increasingly worried he is going to do things not based on what's in the best interest..but based solely on his vision of 'America First.' "...

Interesting. Europe is worried about America pulling our military forces out of Europe.

Apparently they don't like Trump's "America First" ideology. They are so used to America just giving and giving and giving and bending over for them to take and take and take....

I'm not sure if it's a good idea or not. But It sends another message loud and clear. "Whose side are you on?" And I know I like that.

Back in the 60’s LBJ closed a lot of Air Force bases. It decimated a lot of small towns. If we remove our bases from Germeny, et al, it will be a significant financial blow.

It would also save us a lot of money.

Of course, it would also affect those countries’ support of us.

"There is element of uncertainty in all this," said Nordenman, now the director of the Transatlantic Security Initiative at the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security at the Atlantic Council. "But we all need to take a bit of a breath here...and hope the president is in a good mood when he goes to Brussels."

These countries’ socialist systems are underwritten, and are able to survive, by our huge contributions to their defenses. Enough. Time for them to defend themselves, or, if they refuse, to fail.

I thought the left wants all troops out of foreign countries. Y’know, “Imperialism” and all that jazz.

"...former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta..."

The fact that a hack like Leon Panetta was ever the Secretary of Defense of the United States tells you everything you need to know about the modern Democratic Party.

Because they’d be losing out on our money; they want our money but not our president.

Nah. They just need to pay for our well-proven mercenary services to protect them and their man-purse carrying males.

Well, we could use them on our southern border. Or Europe could start paying the market value for good mercenaries. That's how Switzerland started on the path from economic backwater to economic powerhouse. Swiss pike-men were the best in the world back in the day.

They are worried about a very unpredictable president of the United States.

What's unpredictable about it? Trump said he was going to do it and they're afraid that...he's going to do it?

The war is over. Bring them home. Get out of NATO. We will only be defending the Muslims who have conquered Europe.

Europe needs to defend itself. And try to reclaim their countries from the Muslim hordes

no point defending nations whose ruling elites have sold them out to the IslamoNazi invasion. They’re lost causes.
(Pull the American troops out of those countries and then Help those countries who want to defend themselves do so, where needed, ok!)

Trump should start with Turkey. Start repositioning equipment and personnel, until the troop strength is small enough that the pullout can be announced. I don’t trust the Turkish government to keep the mob at bay if an immediate withdrawal is announced before it’s logistically feasible. And as soon as the withdrawal is complete, demand that NATO expel Turkey. If they refuse, then the US should immediately withdraw from NATO. The US can have stand-alone defence treaties with countries that are willing to pull their weight.

The Euro-cowards like to snipe at America from the bushes but they know that they need American troops on European soil to deter Russia. Time to call their bluff. Ditching Turkey is the best way to send the message and make the European clowns wake up. If they refuse, cut Europe loose entirely from American military support.

As I said, I’m not sure that it is a good idea for our own security and that or our allies. But the fact that they are concerned about it builds some leverage in other areas like, ... I don’t know... tariffs and trade wars.

Trump has established his authority and leadership in the world. It seems to be paying dividends rather quickly with allies and foes alike.

We're seeing all these PAST administrators lately.

My guess is that Obama is directing the surge from his "Home" base in DC. Don't forget....Jarrett is living with them.

Once again, America’s massive debt and printed currency is allowing funding of socialist government, nanny-state schemes and long-term progressive social-engineering programs.

This time its in Europe.
