DALLAS -- A mother of two said she was pumping gas just after 10 p.m. Wednesday night in southern Dallas, when a man jumped in her car and tried to drive away with her two kids inside.
Instead of hesitating, Michelle Booker-Hicks told FOX 4 in Dallas that she did what she had to in order to save her kids.
"I proceeded to jump in my backseat and told the gentleman to stop, to get out the car. He would not get out of the car. He turned around and looked at me. I reached over the armrest to get my glove compartment and that's when I fired at him once I got the gun from my glove compartment," she said.
Booker-Hicks shot the man in the face causing him to drive the car off the road and crash. The suspect was arrested and identified as 36-year-old Ricky Wright. He will likely face charges for kidnapping and the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle or carjacking, according to Fox 4.

after a teen neighbor ran up an $800 phone bill (1-900-dirty talk) when my dad was away. The old neighbor kid story!
Not to worry, your secret is safe.
Have you used the old neighbor kid ran up the cable bill, with a TV remote and watched through the window story?

Not the brightest carjack to try to take a car with children inside.
Gun or not, he should have known that mom would go for the throat.

“On a tragic note, the carjacker survived.”
Apparently, a shot to the face/head hit a non-vital area, no surprise given his choice of a life of crime rather than productive citizen. In a close-quarters situation, center of mass is even a better target than at a distance, IMO. The proper shot in this case was a couple to the groin giving you a potential femoral artery bleed-out or, worst case, he survives without his junk.

Two big mistakes:
1) Left keys in the car
2) Left gun in glove compartment, with her not in the car but with kids in car.

Hitler Youth Hogg would curl up in a fetal position and cry.
And Ricky Wright will be called Wrecky Wrong AKA Prisoner Number 2349923.

"2) Left gun in glove compartment, with her not in the car but with kids in car" That was my thought also. Here in Illinois, unless her kids have a CCW, if she leaves them in the car alone with her weapon she's in deep chit.

Prudent. I never leave the keys in the ignition, even when pumping gas.

It worked but another reason off body carry is not a smart idea. My gun is always in my pocket holster. That lady was lucky to be able to get her gun out of the glove box. The only time mine is in a glove box is when I go somewhere that weapons are prohibited (hospital, school, etc).
