DALLAS -- A mother of two said she was pumping gas just after 10 p.m. Wednesday night in southern Dallas, when a man jumped in her car and tried to drive away with her two kids inside.
Instead of hesitating, Michelle Booker-Hicks told FOX 4 in Dallas that she did what she had to in order to save her kids.
"I proceeded to jump in my backseat and told the gentleman to stop, to get out the car. He would not get out of the car. He turned around and looked at me. I reached over the armrest to get my glove compartment and that's when I fired at him once I got the gun from my glove compartment," she said.
Booker-Hicks shot the man in the face causing him to drive the car off the road and crash. The suspect was arrested and identified as 36-year-old Ricky Wright. He will likely face charges for kidnapping and the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle or carjacking, according to Fox 4.

I lock my doors even when Im pumping gas. But I live in Los Angeles, so...”
I plan my days so that I can get gas in the middle of the day. Usually at a Costco Station where there are twenty cars. And I always take the keys with me when I’m at the pump. Live in NorCal.
I leave my car running when I go into the store...but I live in the sticks...and have an old car.
Always double tap to be sure.
I only use Full Serve-—no worries at all.
.
I do that , too sometimes, but with a spare key.
They can have the car (Please!), but NOT my keys! :)
True, but not the brightest carjacker lets the victim reach up to the glove compartment long enough to fetch a weapon.
Happy ending though.
Growing up, we never locked the house...to my knowledge we didn’t even have keys to the house...and my parents would leave the car keys in the front seat, in the carport. Us kids finally convinced my dad to lock his house, after a teen neighbor ran up an $800 phone bill (1-900-dirty talk) when my dad was away.
Are we forgetting that Carjacker Lives Matter, too?
He just LOOKS stupid.
You beat me to it.

Then you probably don’t live in CA unless it’s next to a senior citizens retirement community. I haven’t seen a Full Service Gas Station in decades where I live. A lot of them don’t even have attendants!
Seems there’s less “Mug” in his current photo.....
“You beat me to it.”
At least, but in this instance, I’d keep shooting until the car stopped moving, or the gun went empty.
I’m in MA——full service still around——and I know where they all are in my area——most are self-serve,though.
.
And for those of us who live in Jersey... She was pumping gas?
With her kids in the car, I’m not so sure about the second shot. Sure it would help put the guy out of misery, and save taxpayers a bundle...

Oregon and New Jersey don’t allow Self Serve.
Here is my shocked face. #;^O
Thanks for the first laugh of the day.
