HOUSE COMMITTEE SUBPOENAS PETER STRZOK TO TESTIFY IN PUBLIC

The chairman of the House Judiciary Committee has subpoenaed former FBI official Peter Strzok to appear at a public hearing July 10.

Virginia Republican Rep. Bob Goodlatte issued the subpoena to force Strzok to appear before both the House Judiciary and House Oversight and Government Reform Committees. The hearing will focus on Strzok’s work on both the Hillary Clinton email investigation and the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential campaign.

Strzok’s attorney, Aitan Goelman, said on Monday that his client had retracted a previous offer to testify publicly. Goelman cited a closed-door interview on June 27 with the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees as evidence that Republicans were setting “a trap” for the embattled FBI agent.

“Having sharpened their knives behind closed doors, the committee would now like to drag back Special Agent Strzok and have him testify in public — a request that we originally made and the committee denied,” Goelman said in a letter first reported by CNN.

He’ll just ignore it as there is no penalty for ignoring Congress.

Or, he will show up and lie, because there is no penalty for lying to Congress.

Why would he honor a subpoena, especially if he’d be under oath? Worse case scenario is he gets a nasty letter from the committee or he is subjected to “Sessions justice”. He will tell the committee and America to F off one way or the other since Sessions has back.

Bring them all together and Strzok might look like Slick Willie at the debate with Paula Jones, Juanita Broaddrick and Kathleen Willey.

Strzok’s attorney, Aitan Goelman

So Strzok has his own attorney?

Why is Strzok still employed by the FBI?

LOL, I guess we can expect a herd of Liberal Defense counsels representing him. “Errrrr under the advise of my attorneys I have to invoke my 5th amendment rights.” “As an American, I defended my country and paid my taxes.”

Nothing will come of this unless Comey is indicted, arrested and faces serious prison time. Comey would sing and the whole vile Obama plot to undermine American democracy would be told. Until then these lowlife commissars will stonewall.

Good idea. And have them all there in one panel box at the same time.

We’re not going to get any justice in this country so Congress might as well put on a Jerry Springer like clown show. Our whole government has become a farce anyway. Let’s see it live on the tube.

I think it is going to be very difficult for Strzok to plead the 5th since he has already testified before Congress o this matter

He may have also waived some rights as part of his FBI employment and security agreements

He’s technically still employed by the FBI, yes?

I don’t think he can refuse.

If he lies, are there separate crimes regarding false statements that wouldn’t be specifically linked to Congress?

There’s definitely a method to the madness - a slow tightening of the noose.

Each incremental ratchet makes the Dems look worse, closer and closer to Election Day.

Big deal, public hearings are opportunities for grandstanding, nothing more. The real work is going on behind the scenes and beyond the conception of surface-thinkers.

Congress should make a law where ANYONE who is a government employee claims the 5th pertaining to their employment would be immediately fired with complete loss of benefits and pension no exception. It boggles the mind why this isn’t so.
