CNN host Chris Cuomo wrapped up the first hour of Prime Time by emphatically ranting about President Trump not ordering American flags be flown at half-staff to honor the five journalists killed during the Capital Gazette shooting. According to his speculation, it was because of Trump’s “insensitivity to the dead” and his hatred for the press.
“It's been four days since the most recent mass shooting that robbed this world of five lives, shattered families, and added another layer of shame on all lawmakers for not doing something to stop the damn shootings,” Cuomo began the segment. “So why did this happen? Is there a protocol that would make it weird to respect the dead journalists?”
Cuomo then proceeded to rattle off other instances where Trump had ordered flags lowered such as the Las Vegas and Parkland shootings. To make the point about the number of victims not being an issue, he cited the lowering of flags for former First Lady Barbara Bush and Reverend Billy Graham.
“So, why would the mayor of Annapolis say he was turned down with such a no-brainer request,” he rhetorically asked himself. “Now, I'm afraid I know the answer and it's because President Trump doesn't like the media.”

Well, he shouldn't have lowered for most of those things either. It should be reserved for an event of national meaning, or for the death of national figure, like an ex-president.
I was watching the morning news on the local NBC affiliate in Houston this morning and they talked to the national NBC reporter about this terribly important development. Their comments were dripping with snark.
Any good journalist would ask the obvious question, and since I haven't heard it asked then clearly there are few good jurnalists. Here's the question: Q: After learning about multiple legitimate threats of harm to your newsroom staff, other than reporting it to law enforcement, what steps did you take to protect your employees and secure your offices? At the very least,Did you order a steel door and a keyless entry system?
I don’t think the flag should be lowered near as much as it is now.
But that’s just me, a military vet.
Some of these were political sops, some had more meaning.
Their is purpose in their seemingly irrational rants; and it is a purpose that reminds one of the Norwegian Quisling and our own Benedict Arnold.
The media believes their lives are more important than our lives. Amusing isn't it.
I was out this morning, and noted that the flags I saw were at half-mast.
Many corporate offices do something like this to repel invaders with a wild hair, or even workplace rage.
Poison pens will ultimately make those who wield them die too.

If the president had flags lowered every time there were 5 or more murdered/wounded in a shooting then the flags would be perpetually lowered on the basis of a Chicago weekend.
This was a personal vendetta on the part of the shooter yet the paper immediately blames Trump for calling the press enemies.
We all knew the press were enemies long before Trump came along. When they came out with that political statement, any feelings of caring about the incident disappeared immediately.
Bury the dead with quiet dignity instead of parading the corpses for political gain.
Indeed, and many do even more. The fact that this office didn't care about their employees is the story the media won't write.
Lowering the flag has gotten totally out of hand. It used to be that this was done only in extraordinary cases of national mourning. Now people do it whenever something bad happens, and other people catch heat for not doing it when somebody else thinks they should.
In a longer view, news employees must choose what they want for security.
