There will have to be a better geographic split for the military to join in. Then just like N vs S most of the military would fight for their home. It is happening as the states sharpen their politcal differences. How many in the military are liberal NYC? Liberal Virginia?
Some of them might want to but won’t be able to because a real soldier would knock him/her/it out just like the recent KO in Portland.
In my experience, it would go for Trump, but nor near that percentage. The upper ranks will go wherever the political winds blow. The senior NCOs are still primarily patriots, but everyone needs to understand how rotten our system is.
There are a lot of young troops who were all in for Bernie. Too many young servicemembers have no understanding of our nation’s history and Constitution. They swear an oath to it, and they will die for that oath in good conscience, but few could tell you when a superior blatantly disregarded it.
Today, our military is composed of a tiny percentage of the population, and they are more conservative than the majority; however, the same factions exist in the military including the 80/20 rule. That 20% is the key, and administrations (actually going back to Bush 1) have done everything possible to ensure we don’t have competent patriots in those positions.
Don’t get me wrong, most servicemen are honest and upstanding, but no senior officer has the balls to call bullshit. The few (counted on one hand) who did have been quietly removed.
Dream on Ms. Moore. Sparks will fly out of my ass before that happens.
I admit to one major flaw in my numbers: People overall are becoming increasingly reluctant to answer surveys, and military personnel are less responsive to polls than most people. I should have specified that those are the results among those who did respond in recent surveys. The bottom line though is that the military generally supports President Trump.
