Trump Can Order Rosenstein to Give Docs to Congress, So Why Doesn’t He?

Rod Rosenstein works for President Donald Trump, who can order the deputy attorney general to comply with subpoenaed document requests from Congress or face the consequences, former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy said Thursday on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle.”

“The great irony I thought of the hearing was my friend [Rep.] Jim Jordan [of Ohio] really laying into Rod Rosenstein saying, ‘You’re the boss. These people work for you.’ And the elephant in the room is that Rosenstein works for Trump,” said McCarthy, a National Review contributor and former assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York.

“Trump can order this,” McCarthy (pictured above right) continued, saying the chief executive has not received “particularly good advice” in leaving Rosenstein alone out of fear of being accused of obstruction of justice.

Thus, Trump believes “that because he’s been under investigation for obstruction, and because the critics of Trump have conflated in the public mind the Republican Congress’ pursuit of what went on with the agents who conducted these investigations and [special counsel Robert] Mueller’s investigation — that if Trump acts to force disclosure and help Congress here, he’s effectively obstructing justice.”

Trump is letting congress do the heavy lifting. The optics are better that way.

He’s also letting congress pressure Mueller to wrap things up. More hearings in August will producer fodder for the mid terms.

They need to slow walk this thing into the fall.

Congress could defund Rosenstein’s position.

Again, Ryan would not bring that to a vote, nor any funding bill with that rider.

At least this is what I would do.

Wouldn't it be simpler & quicker to just compel Rosenstein to turn over the documents? First off, can Sessions even rescind his recusal? It takes time to impeach Rosenstein. If the documents expose FBI & DoJ corruption, or at least by some of the agents & administration, then why not just compel him to release all that are being requested?

“...Trump is letting congress do the heavy lifting. The optics are better that way....”

Absolutely agree.
From a political standpoint, it’s much better for Congress to be doing it.
The “obstruction of justice” wailers would be in full shriek mode if POTUS did it.
The longer this drags out to the fall, the worse these evil SOBs look going into the mid-terms. People have a short memory and having this drag out to near the mid-terms will keep the “fire” lit.

The likes of Rice, Jarrett, Holder, Lynch and Obama will never be held accountable. They are untouchable.

Why would anyone want to highlight criminal activity by the Democrats and give the media four months to shrug it off and refocus. It will come out in October.

Trump is letting Rosenstein hang himself.

More than that. He is giving the entire Federal gov. all the rope it wants. By doing that he is revealing not only which people are good and which are not but the flaws in the system itself. He won't act until the people are practically begging him to.

Roger that. But once they have cause to fire Rosenstein, he either quits under pressure or is fired by Sesssions, who is still his boss. That deflects some of the media. But the GOP House is doing its best to help out.

Yes. We want the appearance of corruption at the FBI and DOJ to last through November.

Yeah, but Sessions played right into the Dem’s hands when he recused himself from all matters Russia. That meant he COULDN’T clean house where the real corruption was. That allowed Rosenstein to appoint Mueller without even consulting Sessions or the President.

If I was Trump I’d be sticking pins into a Sessions kewpie doll every night before I went to bed.

I think he believes that the investigation as much as everyone except retarded Leftists know that it’s nothing but a a witch hunt, it is just one of the things that is solidifying our side in support of him.

Because the “political theater of Rosenstein dancing & sweating” is useful for the midterms.

"October surprise." It's summertime, and nobody is paying attention now, anyway.

I'd like to see things get rolling like yesterday, but that's probably not the best time to have an influence on the November elections. Maybe mid-September -- this isn't something that is easy to understand.

I agree with all the above that Trump holds the cards here. My only concern is that Mueller is meanwhile wrapping up Hillary connections and will offer immunity on any supposed Trump-Russia connection to hide the larger crimes by Hillary, Obama & Co.

Comey already gave immunity to the Hitlery inner circle — can that be taken back?

Trump is waiting for the most opportune time to order the Justice Department to release all of this. It they refuse they will be fired the next day. I would guess August 31. Then come the midterms in November.

Trump is no fool. He is the dealer in this game. The dealer always has the advantage.

When Sessions recused himself, it made some things much more difficult for Trump to do w/o opening himself to charges he is stepping all over the investigation (witch hunt) against him. He knows where things are heading and also knows he will have the proper opening/opportunity and he will leverage that when the time is right.

Well thought out plan for the American people to see and absorb. He has single handedly branded and neutered the news media by speaking directly to the American people and is methodically setting up the chess board for a checkmate
