Trump Can Order Rosenstein to Give Docs to Congress, So Why Doesn’t He?

Rod Rosenstein works for President Donald Trump, who can order the deputy attorney general to comply with subpoenaed document requests from Congress or face the consequences, former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy said Thursday on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle.”

“The great irony I thought of the hearing was my friend [Rep.] Jim Jordan [of Ohio] really laying into Rod Rosenstein saying, ‘You’re the boss. These people work for you.’ And the elephant in the room is that Rosenstein works for Trump,” said McCarthy, a National Review contributor and former assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York.

“Trump can order this,” McCarthy (pictured above right) continued, saying the chief executive has not received “particularly good advice” in leaving Rosenstein alone out of fear of being accused of obstruction of justice.

Thus, Trump believes “that because he’s been under investigation for obstruction, and because the critics of Trump have conflated in the public mind the Republican Congress’ pursuit of what went on with the agents who conducted these investigations and [special counsel Robert] Mueller’s investigation — that if Trump acts to force disclosure and help Congress here, he’s effectively obstructing justice.”

Trump is letting Rosenstein hang himself. If Rosenstein releases all the unredacted documents, the DOJ and FBI corruption is exposed. If he witholds them, he gets impeached by the House; then Session fires him for cause. Then Session unrecuses himself from Russia, because he is not accused in any way, and then grabs Mueller by the balls and orders him to wrap it up.

At least this is what I would do.

Trump likes the publicity of the DOJ FBI not cooperating with congress. It sets them up in the long run for him to have grounds for firing them and people wont be able to complain., especially if they are found in contempt of congress. It also pits trump against the phony russia investigation. The slimy rosenstein appointed muller and hes hiding docs from congress. Makes rosenstein look crooked.

Why stop your enemies from being destroyed by their own actions?

In bizarro world, revealing truth obstructs justice.

At some point statutes of limitations run out, so this can’t be let to drag out forever.

Agreed. If the fall news headline is filled with DOJ/FBI corruption, that will be good. Then the court cases can start after November.

Agree. ince they have nothing and impeachment is on the summer’s list of things to see and do in DC this summer, let Rosenstein entangle himself in their web of lies and crimes.

Trump tried ordering the DOJ to cooperate with Congress a few weeks ago.

It prompted a meeting hosted by the White House in which Kelly introduced himself, told them to get the lead out and left to allow the parties to sort it out.

And immediately afterward Democrats in Congress screamed about Trump obstructing the Mueller investigation by trying to order the disclosure of information that would help Trump defend against Mueller.

And still here we are.

He’ll have to fire Rosenstein (and maybe Sessions) to get the DOJ to stop concealing its crimes in the sting operation against the Trump campaign. I suspect there are by now actually forged documents inserted into the government records to protect DOJ lawyers and FBI personnel.

Trump’s lawyers have told him if he fires Rosenstein it would be worse than firing Comey in terms of giving Democrats and the McCain/Flake-types grist for impeachment.

he gets impeached by the House ... At least this is what I would do.

Don’t fret, Ryan will never allow a vote on it.

Trump will order him to release in time to have maximum effect on the Midterm elections.

That’s my theory anyway.

The DOJ/FBI is less popular than ISIS right now. President Trump has a vested interest in maintaining the perception that they don’t work for him.

One could probably just shoot his enemy, but when that enemy is absolutely insistent on tying a rope around his neck and hanging himself, why bother? It’s much more entertaining and way more politically useful to just watch him hang himself than forcing the issue.

When trump thinks the timing is right, probably after the mid terms, he will fire rosenstein for obstructing congress, sessions will announce he’s quitting and trump gets rid of both!

There is no statute of limitations in the Court of Public Opinion.

Nor for treason...

There’s plenty of talk about a ‘Constitutional crisis’ if President Trump does or doesn’t do this or that. But most of those scenarios are utter nonsense, because many of the things discussed are clearly Constitutional and quite well-defined, in that the President has a specific power, or that he is not subject to a specific demand by Mule-head.

My view is that a Constitutional crisis will occur when Trump declassifies and orders Rosenstein, the DOJ and the FBI to turn over the documents, and they refuse. And I really believe that the will refuse, with a B.S. excuse that they are patriots who are protecting the country.

What they are protecting is themselves, Obama, Hillary and a host of others.

It's the WWG1WGA strategy.

Why don't we have a blue wave? It's because Trump has been leading the Republicans away from their bad habits that would have gotten them all tossed out and shown them the way to reelection, which means to stop pandering to the globalist/socialist/crony capitalist uniparty.

Now that they are learning that they can play to the crowds - and save their seats - by attacking the unipartiests they are taking a stand against the weasels who have mined the structure of the government. And in this LARP of a Kabuki, Rosenweasel cannot see that it isn't a charade and that he has to produce documents he won't produce because if this doesn't end the GOP is going to get tossed.

So he is going to get himself fired because he obstructed justice by refusing to turn over documents, which Trump will then produce. What impeachment [of Trump]. It's masterful really.

Because the “political theater of Rosenstein dancing & sweating” is useful for the midterms.
