Yesterday the Senate was asked to vote on whether the best thing to do to prevent the assault, rape and murder of women is to arm them.
I voted no, because I dont believe that putting more weapons in the hands of the public will make women safer in their homes or on the streets at night. I also dont think that women should continue to be made to have to take responsibility for the violent crimes and behaviour that some men perpetuate. Truth is, every woman I know has felt unsafe or intimidated at some point, whether it was at a bar, walking home at night, her work place or tragically even in her own home. The safety and security of women shouldnt require half the country armed, in fear of the threat of its other half. The Senate voted overwhelmingly with me. Nearly all of us lined up on one side of the chamber. On the other side of the chamber sat Senator David Leyonhjelm, and he could see from how few his company was on the other side of this vote that he was destined to lose this one.
Youll have to stop shagging men now, Sarah! he yelled at me as the vote went down, as if now Im at risk without pepper spray or a taser.
I heard the words a clear as a bell. They jolted me, which is of course what they were designed to do. But Ive heard these slurs before. This weekend marks 10 years that I have been in the federal parliament, and over this time the level of nastiness and personal attacks on the floor of the Senate chamber has gotten worse, not better.

She hasnt been keepin up on who murders more children, men or women. Hasnt been keeping up on the wver increasing number of female teachers raping minor male students.
you want attaboys just for obeying a longstaning Freeper rule?
Women never commit violent crimes, silly!
Senator Leyonhjelm said he was responding to Senator Hanson-Young’s interjection, which was “along the lines of all men being rapists”.
“I responded by suggesting that if this was the case she should stop shagging men. I did not yell at her,” Senator Leyonhjelm said.
“Following the division, Senator Hanson-Young approached me and called me a creep. I told her to f*** off.”
He said if the Greens senator took offence, it was an issue for her.
“I am prepared to rephrase my comments. I strongly urge Senator Hanson-Young to continue shagging men as she pleases,” Senator Leyonhjelm said.
The elephant in the room is of course when women strive to be attractive and surprise surprise, they’ve attracted. If you’re rich, good looking and young and the women isn’t a dolt you’re okay. If you’re just a poor unkempt sod working a 9-5 and the bosses secretary wears those tight mid thigh skirts with 3” stiletto heels ... Then you’re in jeopardy.
Colt Dragoons...
Love Those!
They're called "prison muscles," sweetheart.
Steroids are allowed in prison?!?!
Who knew?
In my experience, I have seen many women feel unsafe when there is no danger, and feel safe when there is danger.
Feelings lie. Always have. Always will.
If anyone (of any of the 57 genders (just kidding)) is going to carry, they need to be taught when to shoot; not just how to shoot.
Same with martial arts classes. Instructors like to teach women how to kick a man in the head or groin, or how to gouge a man's eyes, but they don't seem to spend time on how to avoid problems like they do with male students.
WTH, how did that guy get a bas-relief of a skull on his left bicep?
I have an old Colt, although not quite that old, and it is one of the smoothest, most accurate, most consistent guns I have ever owned. A couple of my other guns are even older than the Dragoon, but I don’t shoot anything over 120 years old.
her belt is to tight, the ugly wants to get out
So.... how many members of Parliament was she ‘shagging’ ?
Hard to day. Based on the vote it it appears the Australian parliament doesn’t have very many men.
I recall seeing a Rousey fight a couple of years ago- she had already won, and was continuing to beat on her opponent. The Ref stopped it by the simple expedient of picking her up in one arm and slinging her back behind him. He wasn’t an unusually large or muscular man, either, as I recall.
I do not want to be on the receiving end of a Rousey punch, but I’d agree. I could pick her up comfortably (except that she might object), and she could not do the same to me.
Branding with a hot iron, or some similar implement. Branding oneself has become popular among black males as a way of taking a symbol from the days of slavery and turning it around into a symbol of pride. Like using the N word amongst themselves.
