Newly released court filings have revealed that former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort received a $10 million loan from Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, according to Reuters.
The news outlet reports that an affidavit attached to a 2017 search warrant application was unsealed on Wednesday, and it showed that tax returns for a company Manafort and his wife controlled displayed the loan.
According to Reuters, the loan reveals closer links than previously known between Manafort and the Russian oligarch who has ties to the Kremlin.
FBI agents conducted a raid of Manafort's home in July 2017 after their application was granted. The raid reportedly provided Special Counsel Robert Mueller with key evidence in his investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
His investigation has included a probe into Manafort's financial relationship with Deripaska. Reuters reports that Deripaska is a metals magnate who is known to have close ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Deripaska was sanctioned by the U.S. in April.
In addition, the affidavit that was unsealed displayed that Deripaska had financially supported Manafort's consulting work in Ukraine. The search warrant application also confirmed that Mueller is probing Manafort's role in a 2016 Trump tower meeting with a Russian lawyer.

Anyone else get the sense that this Hillary and Obama are driving this not because they lost the election but because Putin was supposed to be doing business with THEM?
“Crumbs”
Seriously though. Ten million is not chump change.
Was it Illegal to borrow Money from Russia when it happened?
If not, why is it News?
Is it illegal to receive a loan or to borrow money?
Does this have anything whatsoever to do with the 2016 election?
Does receiving a loan justify locking up an individual without a trial and revoking bail?
Who leaked this information to the media?
I thought information involving grand juries and prosecutions were supposed to be classified and not leaked to the media.
Now Mueller is grasping at straws and is without question tacking every penny that Manafort earned, borrowed or spent, even trivial loans from Russians that every American could apply for.
Are they now going to go after Manifort for that time he borrowed his dad’s car and brought it back with a half a tank instead of 3/4 of a tank?
What about that time Manafort was in high school and he borrowed lunch money from that Cuban exchange student?
Are they going to send him to jail for that?
And?
Manafort has already been indicted. This information comes from court filings that are public documents.
Manafort was investigated as part of the illegal Mueller effort.
Search warrants were obtained fraudulently as part of the Mueller operation.
Any evidence obtained by use of these warrants, should be inadmissible, and the case should be tossed out.
Do people think Soros doesn't get foreign loans? Has anyone taken him to task?

Cuz Shrillery’s tears!

Yes, the year of the loan is not given.
Seriously though. Ten million is not chump change.

You’re right.
But Hitlery would think it was chump change. She’d be on her way to becoming one of the wealthiest women on earth if she had been elected.
Can’t find the year of the loan. Bet it was more than 10 years ago. I’ll keep hunting.
What was he actually indicted for? The last time I checked, it is not against the law to borrow money from anyone. If theyre on the restricted list, I can see how that may be considered doing business with them, but Russia has never been on that list.
Any news into the investigation of Trump’s 8th grade librarian who failed to charge him with a fee for a book turned in late?
I'm not one to reflexively defend Manafort here. I think there's a damn good chance he joined the Trump campaign in 2016 as a "Deep State" mole.
Proof of ‘collusion’, obviously... /s
No date for the loan is given in the linked to Reuters piece. But it seems to indicate it is from the 2005-2006 time frame and was reported.
Conveniently missing.
I don’t care if he got a loan. The real question is: was this a legitimate loan? IOW, what are the repayment terms, and has Manafort been adhering to them. If yes, then you really cannot question the motivations of the lender. If not, then you likely have a bribe/influence peddling of some sort.
That said, if anyone knows someone who would like to lend me $10 million (or even $1 million), I promise that it’ll be invested well (in rental real estate) and repaid, with interest.
