Justice Anthony M. Kennedy announced Wednesday that he is retiring from the Supreme Court, a move that gives President Trump the chance to replace the court’s pivotal justice and dramatically shift the institution to the right, setting up a bitter partisan showdown on Kennedy’s successor.

“It has been the greatest honor and privilege to serve our nation in the federal judiciary for 43 years, 30 of those years on the Supreme Court,” Kennedy, who is stepping down July 31, said in a statement.

Kennedy informed the president of his decision in a letter.

Ha! Good one!

I love to, from time to time, hit those YouTube videos of liberals saying Trump will never be president. :)

I wish Trump would amend his “list” and have only 3 names on it. Hannity, Limbaugh and Levine. ROFLMAO! I’d have to take a week off of work just to observe, enjoy and appreciate the liberal apocalyptic fits!

Even better, nominate one of them and have them testify. When they finally don’t get through the Senate, Trump could name anyone he wants.

WOW, just WOW!

I agree with you.

Their heads were already exploding before the last few rulings over the family refugee nonsense.

Kennedy has been the dependable pro-abortion pro-LGBT rights swing vote.

Dems were pretty smart to get rid of the judge filibuster and tell Republicans to get rid of the SCOTUS filibuster.

They musT feel like I felt when Obama was POTUS.

HAHAHAHA!

I like Patrick Wyrick. He’s only 37.

Not sure he has a sufficient record to determine that he’s reliably conservative.

Not many 37 yr. olds are.

May his decision to hand the appointment of another JSCOTUS to that f------g shitgibbon repeat over and over again in his head as he loses control of his bodily functions, deteriorates, hurts beyond hurt, and Still. Can't. Die. Fuck him.

Trump has a chance to correct Reagan's mistake.

Yes! I loved Reagan but amnesty was a HUGE mistake. I often wonder if he had early Alzheimer's at that time and what we read about Nancy actually doing the President's job was true. Can't go back now and if so....thank God she didn't do worse, especially with her pagan witchcraft.

FEDERALIST No. 47
MADISON

“The constitution of Massachusetts has observed a sufficient though less pointed caution, in expressing this fundamental article of liberty.

It declares ‘that the legislative department shall never exercise the executive and judicial powers, or either of them; the executive shall never exercise the legislative and judicial powers, or either of them; the judicial shall never exercise the legislative and executive powers, or either of them.’

This declaration corresponds precisely with the doctrine of Montesquieu, as it has been explained, and is not in a single point violated by the plan of the convention.”

A Hillary presidency would have meant a 6-3 liberal court with the ability for Ginsberg to retire and be replaced by a younger liberal judge. MAJOR bullet avoided in 2016.

I’m amazed at the number from DU who seem to believe that it is “their America” that they’re losing.

Delusional!

IMHO, Supreme Court Justices (in any country) should decide cases based on the law, not partisanship. “Swing-vote” Kennedy may have been the only Justice doing his job the right way.

This is going to be the most vicious confirmation battle in our lifetimes, worse even than Bork’s and Clarence Thomas’s. The liberals are already at white heat, and will go absolutely nuts no matter who the President nominates. Me, I’m stocking up on popcorn. Go President Trump!

For some reason they want to tar and feather Susan Sarandon.

Not a bad idea...
