Restaurants are very difficult businesses to run successfully. When I see one that has been in business for decades, I think - wow, that’s no mean feat.
The attrition rate in the restaurant industry, especially for stand alones, is astronomical. It’s a hard enough business to survive in, without adding this kind of controversy. It was so conscious an act, one so likely to generate blow-back, it suggests to me that the owner was already looking for a way out and decided to do this scuttle the place. Dunno.
And out of a good tip, no doubt. Foot meet bullet.
