Rep. Jim Jordan, founding chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, has confirmed that he plans to enter the House Speakers race to succeed outgoing Speaker Paul Ryan.
Jordan made the announcement on The Curt Schilling Podcast on Monday. If and when there is a Speakers race, I plan on being part of that discussion, Jordan said, before adding that the GOP needs to focus on the kind of things we told the American people we were going to do if they want to have a Speakers race at all. We get the right kind of immigration bill across the finish line, we actually make the tax cuts permanent, we fight for the values we told the American people [we would], we reform welfare. I mean, these are the kind of things we told the American people we were going to do and I think more important than who the Speaker is next year is what we do this year because if we dont do the right things this year we might not have a race for Speaker. Maybe it would be a race for minority leader so lets stay focused on what we got to do and everything else will take that step.
To the chagrin of conservative voters, Paul Ryan has carried on the establishment tendencies of ousted former House Speaker John Boehner. In contrast, Speaker hopefuls like House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Majority Whip Steve Scalise have made an effort to appeal to the working-class voters who elected President Donald Trump.

GO JIM GO!
I wish him well but there aren’t 218 votes to make him speaker.
He’ll have a better chance in January.
A stepped on piece of gum licked by dogs and eaten by cockroaches is better than Ryan.
Then again Ryan replaced another SUPER RINO Boehner. It’s like whomever we have as Speaker gets worse and worse...
I think Rep. Jim Jordan would be a good pick.
yes please
That’s the kind of Speaker we need.
You are probably right.
We have not Cantorized near enough Bush League Republicans.
CoC cash buys a lot of votes.
We need to put a big dent in CoC coffers.
Clickbait title.
Jim IS a mover and shaker these days though.
HOORAY Jim Jordan!!
He may not win, but he will have enough votes to have a say how
the House is run in the future.
I’m glad to see him run.
I think Rep. Jim Jordan would be a good pick.
I really believe Jim Jordan would be the best man for the job at this time, think he and Trump would put on a show we wouldn’t soon forget.
Give ‘em both barrels Mr. Jordan and DO NOT settle for anything less than the Speaker’s job.
I don’t know the guy.
There was a group which was more or less opposed to Trump during the election. Was that the “freedom caucus”?
I don’t remember the details, but was quite disappointed, at the time.
Jim Jordan for House Speaker. Lord, let it be so. (Please not Kevin McCarthy or some other limp noodle Repuke.)
