Rep. Jim Jordan Announces Bid For Speaker of the House

Rep. Jim Jordan, founding chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, has confirmed that he plans to enter the House Speaker’s race to succeed outgoing Speaker Paul Ryan.

Jordan made the announcement on The Curt Schilling Podcast on Monday. “If and when there is a Speaker’s race, I plan on being part of that discussion,” Jordan said, before adding that the GOP needs to focus on “the kind of things we told the American people we were going to do” if they want to have a Speaker’s race at all. (RELATED: Jim Jordan Considering Running for Speaker of the House).

“We get the right kind of immigration bill across the finish line, we actually make the tax cuts permanent, we fight for the values we told the American people [we would], we reform welfare. I mean, these are the kind of things we told the American people we were going to do and I think more important than who the Speaker is next year is what we do this year because if we don’t do the right things this year we might not have a race for Speaker. Maybe it would be a race for minority leader so let’s stay focused on what we got to do and everything else will take that step.”

To the chagrin of conservative voters, Paul Ryan has carried on the establishment tendencies of ousted former House Speaker John Boehner. In contrast, Speaker hopefuls like House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Majority Whip Steve Scalise have made an effort to appeal to the working-class voters who elected President Donald Trump.

A stepped on piece of gum licked by dogs and eaten by cockroaches is better than Ryan.

Then again Ryan replaced another SUPER RINO Boehner. It’s like whomever we have as Speaker gets worse and worse...

CoC cash buys a lot of votes.

We need to put a big dent in CoC coffers.

I guess what you are suggesting is like the left says whenever a GOP judicial nomination comes up, this person has to be "MORE MAINSTREAM" - I disagree. The GOP is dead and has been replaced by Trump's Government no matter what one wants to call the party. We know the RATS are the party of Commies. I don't know who would garner 218 votes in this poisonous environment with all three sides biting at the other.

He may not win, but he will have enough votes to have a say how
the House is run in the future.
I’m glad to see him run.

I think Rep. Jim Jordan would be a good pick.

I really believe Jim Jordan would be the best man for the job at this time, think he and Trump would put on a show we wouldn’t soon forget.

Give ‘em both barrels Mr. Jordan and DO NOT settle for anything less than the Speaker’s job.

I don’t know the guy.

There was a group which was more or less opposed to Trump during the election. Was that the “freedom caucus”?

I don’t remember the details, but was quite disappointed, at the time.
