Trump Unloads On The Red Hen
Donald Trump Twitter ^ | June 25, 2018 | Donald Trump

The Red Hen Restaurant should focus more on cleaning its filthy canopies, doors and windows (badly needs a paint job) rather than refusing to serve a fine person like Sarah Huckabee Sanders. I always had a rule, if a restaurant is dirty on the outside, it is dirty on the inside!

Hate-filled Marxists shouldn’t be able to discriminate against people based on their politics without being called out for it. The leftists praising the owner all sound like they are in the running to be the next George Wallace or Orval Faubus.

Pussy. You just don’t like Americans fighting back. The restaurant has right of refusal and we have free speech. Get used to it.

race, religion, nationality, sexual proclivities, and ability are the things you cannot discriminate against. I probably missed a few.

Our President has the back of the people who work for him.

It inspires loyalty and cultivates gratitude. This is a boss I would be proud to work for and to give my best.

I thought the Civil Rights Act of 1964 put an end to that type of discrimination.....

You would think so, but you’d be wrong. It put an end to discrimination on the basis of race, color, creed, sex or national origin. Discrimination on the basis of political beliefs or government employment are not covered. So the restaurant’s owner was within her rights to refuse service to the Sander’s party. But was it a wise business decision? Was it a civil thing to do? I think the owner and staff are going to rue the day they pulled this stunt.

My first thought was that this tweet was rather silly too. Not ten minutes later I came across the Red Hen’s inspection report. Trump was right again. I should have known better.

can you link to the restaurants inspection report?

SCOTUS didn’t even rule in the bakers favor due to religion did they? I thought it was due to his artistic freedom. ie the right not to design a cake if he didn’t want to, and that makes sense.

I’m sure if you went into a bakery in NYC or San Fran and ask for a confederate flag to be on it, they’d say no.

The baker did not deny the gay couple service or access to his bakery, they could have had another cake. He just refused to do a specific pro gay marriage themed design on the cake.

Most people seem to be having an issue understanding this.

Great summary of the SCOTUS decision concerning the baker. One can see what was done to Sarah by the Red Hen wasn’t remotely the same.

You still don’t understand Trump. This has nothing to do with that dive of a restaurant. Trump tweets this knowing the media stooges will have the same reaction as yours. When the media report it they are forced to give background on all the other threats, protests and attacks on law abiding members of his family and administration. Who do think even the MSM watching American public will side with? Trump is a genius.

The Leftists have gotten away with that sort of behavior for far too long. I’m glad to see Trump pushing back.

I disagree.

The President was indirectly attacked by the management of the Red Hen... He is using a reasonable reply to an attack on a member of staff that was really an attack on him.

The Mayor of Chicago or New York would have sent his regulators into the Red Hen and found enough violations to put them out of business.

Obama would have sent the IRS in to bankrupt them.

So a tweet compared to those possible reactions is mild.

It also puts others in the SWAMP know that showing disrespect is not without pain.

I'm not ok with it, but it's not illegal to my knowledge in most areas:

The federal Civil Rights Act protects people from discrimination based on race, color, sex, class and religion, but not political views. A Manhattan Supreme Court judge threw out the case of a Trump supporter who sued a New York bar for not serving him in January 2017, on the grounds that political beliefs aren’t protected under the state’s laws. The D.C. Human Rights Act, however, does protect people from discrimination based on their political views.

D.C., California, and Seattle don't allow political discrimination, but I don't think there are laws in place in most of the country. If you can point me to them, I'd like to see them.
