Suit to knock Ken Bennett off Republican ballot fails in court (McCain machine defeat!)

A lawsuit seeks to knock Ken Bennett off the ballot for Arizona governor over accusations that he did not submit enough valid voter signatures to qualify was dismissed Thursday.

Majority of LD28 candidate Mark Syms’ petition signatures deemed invalid

Bennett, a former Arizona secretary of state, is challenging Gov. Doug Ducey for the Republican nomination in the Aug. 28 primary election.

Political supporters of Gov. Ducey filed the lawsuit Wednesday arguing Bennett’s signatures are invalid for a host of reasons, including they don’t match signatures on voter records or were signed by Democrats or unregistered voters.

Primary candidates in Arizona must collect signatures from registered voters who are members of their party or independents to appear on the ballot.

McCain did not die or resign before May 31st, therefore Doug Ducey will appoint McCain's successor when he does. McCain has supposedly already given the governor a list of his preferred successors (his wife at the top of the list).

Ken Bennett entered the race and specifically said that he WOULD NOT appoint Cindy McCain if he is elected governor.

This brought the appointment of McCain's successor to the public eye and caused a problem, so they tried to remove Bennett from the ballot. They failed.

Now Ducey will have to face a primary opponent, and McCain will have to wait to die or resign until AFTER the August primary. And Ducey may be pressured to appoint somebody OTHER than another McCain.

We'll see.

A GREAT campaign issue and message. “They didn’t want you to have a choice and tried to knock me off the ballot. Send them a message! Tell them you won’t be manipulated!” etc. etc.

The signatures shown in the article look suspicious to me. The signatures of Newhall Martin and ?James B. Martin sure looks like the same person signed both names. Both of the surnames look too identical. Another point- the signatures resemble writing from several decades ago, when people used fountain pens. Fountain pens were quickly replaced by the new-fangled ball point pens, approximately in the 1950’s or very shortly thereafter.

Too many of us are content to trash McCain constantly, including me.

It’s time we made some lists of the people who are on his staff.

I never want one of them to get our vote.

I never want to support someone they do.

It’s actually brilliant, and I hope he DOES use that.

McCain is a POS.

Why would McCain have to wait until after the primary?

“Why would McCain have to wait until after the primary?”

He doesn’t HAVE to wait. But if McCain resigns and Ducey appoints his wife, Bennett will have a campaign issue, the fix is in, etc.

McCain and his ilk like to operate outside the influence of the people. Remember in 2014 when the Eric Cantor was going to bring Amnesty up for a vote AFTER all the primaries were done, that is, when the people were trapped into voting for an Establishment republican or a democrat (same thing). But Cantor lost, and members got scared, and there went Amnesty.

Same thing here. McCain had to wait until May 31st so his successor would be appointed, not elected. And they probably had it all planned out. Then Bennett gets in the race and makes Ducey appointing McCain’s wife a campaign issue. So they had to get rid of Bennett, which didn’t work. So now they will wait till after the primary’s done, then they can put their plan into operation. Ducey can’t afford to look like a McCain stooge until after the people are trapped into voting for him or the democrat.
