MESA, Ariz. - Police in a Phoenix suburb say a self-driving Waymo vehicle was among five cars involved in a collision, but no serious injuries were reported.

Waymo’ wrecks per mile.
They’re gonna need to be waymo better for the biz to be profitable.
Once the lawyers get a hold of this some folks will have waymo money in their pockets.
They gonna have to get waymo better.
(I wanted to join in!)
There must be quite a few on the Phoenix roads. We drove to Sedona an back this last weekend and saw three on the roads.
Anyone know how many are being tested in AZ?
Oh man. The jokes write themselves. I already see them here. Glad no one was hurt.
Oh, well played.
They are ALWAYS driving up and down Dobson Rd in Mesa & Chandler. On my 3 mile drive to and from work I see several of them.
I thought that name sounded familiar =>

Sounds like this will be a case of WayMo’ Bitter Blues.
I just keep thinking of Whammo from my youth. Didn’t they sell the Frisbee among other toys?
I wonder how many accidents will happen before self-driving cars are discontinued.
I read where they have estimated that self driving cars will need operator intervention every three thousand hours or so. Hmm. So, how likely is it that an occupant of the car would be paying attention to driving conditions at the moment a situation comes up? And would they have driving skills to take over if they don’t actually drive on a routine basis?
I’m sticking with regular cars.
Im hoping when I enter my dotage self driving cars are a viable thing. Im hoping Ive got 20-25 years or more, so likely enough time from where things are today. This isnt an in-5-years undertaking in my view.
Good point.
One other aspect of self driving cars is, what are you supposed to do while sitting in one? People (like myself) who are prone to motion sickness won’t be reading, watching TV, or doing much else. They’ll just be sitting there, trying to avoid nausea. Car drivers typically do not get motion sickness.
SELF-DRIVING CARS WILL KILL PEOPLE. WHO DECIDES WHO DIES?
(Note to anyone with a mad-on for caps: I'm not shouting. All caps is from the link.)
“The driver of the Waymo vehicle told Mesa police that the car was not in autonomous mode at the time of Saturday night’s crash.
Witnesses say another car failed to stop for a red light and crashed into the Waymo vehicle as it was turning left.”

It wouldnt hurt you to read the article. It was human driver error that caused the crash:
The driver of the Waymo vehicle told Mesa police that the car was not in autonomous mode at the time of Saturday night’s crash.
Witnesses say another car failed to stop for a red light and crashed into the Waymo vehicle as it was turning left.
Wham o made frizbiys and lawn darts.
